What has Disney removed that makes you the saddest?

Yes to all of the above, and especially to item 1!!! I am sorry, but I personally find that it's terrible to have to plan down to every minute of every day so far in advance if you don't want to contend with big line-ups everywhere, and then stress 'cause you have to change things around at the last minute! FastPass+ might be wonderful to some, but honestly? not so much when you consider that it's almost like being in school again, with set times for classes and meals. And I hate having to book an ADR 180 days out, not even getting what I want unless I'm up at the crack of dawn on my computer to make bookings with my credit card in hand. It's too regimented to be a fun holiday anymore, IMHO...

So yeah, I really REALLY miss the spontaneity!

Discovery Island, it was free, or near to it, was off the beaten path so rewarded people who knew about it and took the time to go, and was rewarded with a wonderful selection of animals including Sun Conures that would land on you.

I miss being able to walk into MK without a rope leading you down Main Street! Kinda ruins the magical moment of walking down Main Street at Rope Drop!

Yes!!! I miss these too. I also miss Alien Encounter and having Winnie the Pooh and friends character meals at Artist Point. We can add the Poly waterfall soon.

The one thing I wish I could share with my daughter is the original JoI.

That being said, Figment (even though it makes me very sad to ride it, knowing what it was), is one of her favorites and must dos.

As she gets older, I miss that I can't share Horizons with her.

Not a unique list, I know. But it's mine.

I also...personally...miss 2k Leagues. But, I get why they removed it.

I miss the original Journey into your imagination. Sit down lunch at the Rotating Garden Grill. Ice cream at the fountain view. A daytime show at American Garden theatre. The night time parade at EPCOT. Fewer gardens and chilling space at MK. The loss of Tusker House as an airconditioned quick serve (Although I LOVE the new Donalds.)

I feel like there's more technology in general and less Imagineering.

For me it is the original Polynesian Village. My grandparents took me there as a teen and it really was the best trip ever. Back then you could still swim in the lake and we went to the Luau. The fountain was a dream.

For my daughter it is Snow Whites Magical adventure.

My 12 year old still talks about Toon Town.

I'd put 20K Under the Sea on that list, but glad to have 7DMT and New Fantasyland in general.

Definitely the $10 EMH. DH and I had the most magical night at MK back in Nov. 1999 when we bought that ticket. We rode Splash Mountain four times in a row without even getting off. LOVED IT! There was no one at the park that night, it was pure magic for sure.

I am sooo curious about this Horizons that so many have mentioned. Off to Google it now!

Slight twist I hate something they have added. DVC. It has ruined my favorite hotels GF and CR and now the Poly. Disney has realized its a quick and easy cash cow so they are dumping resources into it, with out using those profit to reinvest in the parks. Keep DVC but stop throwing it on to iconic resorts as an afterthought.

Also most of what others have mentioned backlot your, body wars, Mr. Toads, Horizon, Figment, etc.

Oh and for god sakes clean up the monorail either my memory is terrible or it's gotten worse and worse every year. Cleanliness, break downs, operating hours.

The Monte Cristo sandwich that used to be sold in the Magic Kingdom.
The shop in the castle that used to sell merchandise from Spain and Germany.
The shop outside POC that sold nautical and pirate themed merchandise.
The shop in Downtown Disney that also sold merchandise from Spain.
The shop in Italy that sold Murano Glass, Capidamonte, etc.
The photo stop near POC where you could dress up like pirates and have your picture taken (an 8x10 Polaroid).
For some reason, I seem to remember all the topiaries that could be seen on the monorail ride from the ticket and transportation center when Magic Kingdom first opened.
For some strange reason, I miss the old way of doing the parks before any form of Fast Pass. In hind sight, I really liked when you had to have tickets. You could buy a ticket for admission only, I believe it was $5.00. It was great for those of us who just like to walk around and take in the atmosphere, go through the shops, etc.

Alien Encounter was SO scary, but I loved it! I will never forget how much my little sister cried when we were there in middle school. I know it was probably pulled because it wasn't "family-friendly" enough, but I thought it was a nice escape from all the "family-friendly" rides Disney already has. I really don't care for Lilo and Stitch, and I would not go there to see a Stitch Encounter. I wish I could take my husband on Alien Encounter without really telling him what it is... I'd be curious to see how scared he'd get! ;-)

Great question. In no particular order...

Majority of nice cast members and CM who actually like their job. (I should say, every CM v. today, those who act like they like it are in the minority)

Good food at every restaurant (aka dining before the dining plan).

Random character meet and greets.

MGM Studios (aka HS before the stupid hat).

Attention to detail that was apparent in the 80's and early 90's. There was never a light bulb out in a parade or gum on the streets.

Actual drawn cartoons/feature movies rather than just digital computer designed movies. Actually I like digital, I just miss the drawn and wished they did both.

Being able to sit at the front of the monorail.

The original Journey into Imagination, Food Rocks, but above all else The Adventurers Club. Always spent one or two nights there every trip. To replace it with "additional shopping and dining" is ridiculous!

The Adventurers Club...what a unique, imaginative place that was! Marching along, we're adventurers! Kungaloosh!
Honey, I shrunk the Audience...love the 3D films, but Captain EO is just so dated.
Tapestry of Nations...amazing.
And, I might be the only one, but "Sounds Dangerous" was really funny!
Most of all, though, I miss the days when everything didnt have to be planned to every last detail. Dont know what I want for dinner next week, but I already know what I will be eating in 180 days!

Interesting how many people mentioned the Main Street Bakery. I specifically miss the chocolate cake that was available in the 1970s when the bakery was sponsored by Sara Lee. We had it for breakfast every morning while we were waiting for the Magic Kingdom to open. By the early 80s (still Sara Lee) they had added some sort of jelly in the middle between the layers and I didn't like it anymore.

It has been so long since I've been to WDW that I didn't realize the arcade and magic shop were gone. That makes me a bit sad.

We loved Michael Iceberg! We bought one of his records and used to play it at home while we were eating dinner.

I hope to bring my son to WDW for his first trip soon. While I'll miss some of the things from my childhood memories, I do think that the WDW of today will feel just as magical to him.

I just joined the forum today. I chose my username in a way to reflect my memories (we had an EPCOT license plate on our car before it opened and I bought a pink Figment baseball cap on our first visit there when it opened) and to reflect the present. I loved WDW as a child. I am very excited about loving WDW as a parent!
