What has Disney removed that makes you the saddest?

Spontaneity here also. Booking FPS. In advance. I really hate this....a lot.

I also miss the free wine demos at FWF and especially, the free beer tasting at the rose and crown patio. Nothing like 4 beers for 2 to share.....FOR free. Ah the good old days, circa 2000...

The AP lounges were nice with the character visits.

I miss how simple it all used to be...and how it's seeming more impersonal now.

...

It's just so "complicated" now - and people have their nose stuck into their smart phones trying to keep track of it all instead of watching where they're going...

I must be getting old...

Yup. Honestly. This will be my first trip with FP+.

Been 20+ times and I really dred this.

The old EPCOT Future World: Horizons, World of Motion, Body Wars, Kitchen Kaberet, original Journey into Imagination. The educatainment idea- we could learn something and be entertained at the same time.

MGM as a "working" studio- the shows & rides that showed you what it was really like- Superstar Theater was awesome, and the Backlot tour that took you down the backlot instead of the sad thing it is today.

Ditto. And another vote for Mr. Toad's wild ride.

Main Street Bakery. The REAL MSB. This one still boggles the mind to me... WHY take one of the most iconic, beloved, always full of people, parts of Disney and remove it/ ruin it? they could have put that Starbucks anywhere, but it had to replace MSB???

I really miss the smells from there and the yummy treats, the morning breaks we always took there. It's awful now. Packed, slow, not magical at all. When my Dsis and I were there in the fall, it was the longest line/ wait of the whole trip!

I also still really miss If You Had wings.

Oh man! I had the biggest yummiest cinnamon roll there on our way out on our last day at MK and its gone now? I mean, I like starbucks and all but not a slow one without a huge cinnamon roll. :crazy2:

So many things:

Horizons and World of Motion loved those two and would ride them over and over.

Original narration on spaceship earth

Yes, this! And especially the original narration. I like Judy Dench, I really do, but the original narration just had something neat about it.

Horizons! I remember mostly the smell of oranges. I really wish I could ride that now.

HORIZONS!!
I was fortunate enough to ride that several times as a kid and loved it so much.
I wish it was what was inside of Spaceship Earth. Much better attraction.

If I was millionaire, I'd buy the ride and put it back together for my own self (I assume most of the set pieces are kept in storage).

I'm sad to hear Alien Encounter is gone.

I'm not easily scared and remember reading all the signs through the line that basically said "no really, this ride is NOT for young kids" and yet the line was full of them.

I'm the type of person who loves haunted houses because I find people's fear of them HYSTERICAL, so I could not.stop.laughing at the people who were screaming "LET ME OUT!" on that ride.

Bummer!

I miss the Main Street Bakery. It was our tradition on the first day of every trip to go to MK, get our breakfast at the bakery and sit outside soaking up the sounds and sights of Main Street while eating our breakfast. I didn't realize exactly why I hate that Starbucks so much until I watched an old documentary on Walt Disney recently. They talked about how Walt didn't want anything from the outside world to mar the experience of guests inside the park. I have always loved the feeling of coming through the train station onto Main Street and entering the story. Now, you just about get into Magic Kingdom mode and there it is - Starbucks. It's out of place and I hate it.

I hear ya. I would mush prefer a huge cinnamon roll.

One more that might not have been mentioned--the old computer " I/O" show at Epcot.

Wasn't a very big theater but at the end of the presentation they would open the curtains so you could gaze in on a large bank of computers they said were operating things at WDW.

Yes! I remember this too! They were all reel-to-reel computers, too. (Now they've all gone digital.) I wonder when I saw that? :confused3

It's kinda funny that so many people are saying they miss the slow, dark, educational attractions at Epcot... and then there's so many people who want to see more attractions in Futureworld ala Test Track and Mission: Space.

Funny though, the Stitch version STILL scares kids the same way.

But yes, I miss the original attraction SO much. I feel if they were to ever make an attraction based on the ALIENS movies, it would have been like Alien Encounter.

oh! And ICE STATION COOL at Epcot.

It's still there as just a place to get the international sodas, but back in the day you would walk through a small area with a guy frozen with a coke in his hand and it was "snowing" inside before you walk into the soda room.

And also, I don't like the new variations of the sodas now. But at least it's still there and free :D

Spontaneity.
My first visit was in the early '80's with my DH and 3 year old daughter. There were no scheduled meet and greets for any characters. We ran into Mickey, all by himself near the America Pavilion. She was so excited; we got great pics.
My DH had been there as a teenager, even spent a night in the Contemporary on his way to visit his grandparent's in Lauderdale. He introduced me to WDW, got me to love WDW. We are now DVC members. I love all the special events and entertainment.
But I miss the Skyway and the old Main Street Arcade. But most of all I miss the characters walking freely in the parks. It was way more magical when you didn't have to wait in line to spend a minute with them.
