Hi,
I am soooo looking forward to my GCV (1st Disneyland ) and then Aulani 1 bedroom ocean view before a POA cruise:love:

We are going in July 2017. So that 1 bedroom ocean view for 5 nights cost a whopping 310 points:scared:
My thinking is hey from NY I did not fly to Hawaii to not see the ocean from my room!

I realized how crazy it was after looking at BLT 2br that I will need for next year (DD sweet 16) and it is less points for a 2BR lake view for the 5 nights:headache:

So yes this is a splurge for me. Rack rate is 5,555 before tax:crazy2:
Which makes me love my DVC even more. I would never paid these room rates but somehow the magic of DVC makes you "think" it's affordable:rolleyes:

What has been your biggest splurge on points and was it worth it?
Thanks
Kerri

Going to Poly and staying in a bungalow for 4 nights in feb, then 2 nights in a studio at SSR, I also feel like it's free since the points are paid for. Other splurge was using points for the members cruise to Alaska.

I'm going to say getting the 3 bedroom GV at OKW last June for me, DW, DD #1, DD#2 + her DH & two DDs. It was AWESOME!

@NJMermaid -- we did the Alaska Members Cruise too, 2015 right? We paid cash on that one but still it was a great DVC benefit. :earsboy:

Grand Floridian Lake View studio on our 25th anniversary trip was amazing....and did a 2br savanna view with all 4 of our kids on another trip. Couldn't spend points like that all the time, but boy, it was worth it!!!!!

Poly Bungalow....now thats a splurge:worship: We stayed at the Poly for the 1st time in a Studio Lake view and had a great view of the Bungalows. Looks amazing. I have to say the Poly studio is my favorite by far and I loved the resort so much I can't wait to stay for longer. We only had 2 nights before a cruise. Alaska is way up there on my list a member cruise there must have been amazing!!

It is worth it, yes, indeed.

I hope so:-) Hey its Hawaii and Disney how bad can it be :-)

OKW GV I hope one day I get to stay there. Was thinking GV instead of BLT 2br for DD Sweet 16, but because I will be hosting 16 year olds I think the location of BLT is better for them to leave resort alone. My DD and her 2 friendss are familiar with parks, but still bus everywhere and further makes me more nervous. I have small family so when DD gets older maybe if her friend pay their own fare ;-) tix, food etc I will splurge on GV, the size at OKW cannot be beat!!

Grand Floridian is the only DVC(onsite) I have not stayed at. I'm looking forward to going there one day. Lake view must be amazing from GF.

Thanks Everyone:-)

Our trip a couple of years ago to VGC followed by a week at Aulani.

Our splurge is Aulani x2 (east coast) planning our 3rd. OV 1 Bedroom 9 nights, absolutely beautiful!! Couldn't go if we had to "pay" for the resort AND airfare. It's a beautiful resort, have fun!!

Our splurge was a Treehouse for 8 nights - for just me and my 2 teenagers. We also stayed in a 2 bedroom at VGF for 4 nights. We don't always visit the theme parks, so we enjoy the extra space.

1 week at VGF 1bedroom for the hubs and me in May - 308 points

2 bedroom VGC 3 nights over new year (302 points!). We came back from Hong Kong; stay in VGC before we returned to home/college. "space" is important when taking vacation with our "adult" children. Having 2 separate rooms is undesirable for family vacation. 2-Bedroom was perfect. I am saving my points for Aulani in 2018. So no more trip for 2017; but still, totally worth using those points for VGC.

8 nights at Aulani (about 650 points!). And that was only a 2-bedroom - imagine what a grand villa (will try that one day) would have cost! And love that ocean view!

Nice...Aulani. Want to do that someday.

My splurge was just recently...a grand villa at HHI for New Year's. It was awesome!!!

HHI haven't been there yet. GV are so awesome!!

Yes that airfare is a killer!! 9 nights sounds soooooo relaxing!

Forgot about those tree houses, they sound sooo cool. So many awesome resorts:-)

Wow...I know those GV are pricey. Similar to Poly Bungalows. I hope I get to try a GV one day
Thanks

I splurge when we do a pool/garden at bwv! Or lake at blt. We've done it voluntarily a few times but that home resort priority means std is our go to view....

Too rich for my blood....

This will be our second week long 2 bedroom ocean view stay in Aulani! It's coming up in February. For Tom and I it's joined to a 1 week RCI stay in a 1 bedroom on Maui. Those 2 weeks cost over 550 points, and $95!

I did 3 nights in an AKV CL studio a few years ago. That was my big splurge up until next fall. I have a BWV GV booked for a week during F&W. I'll be "point poor" for a couple of years because of that little extravagance but I'm looking forward to the stay with my family.

DVC points usage for DCLs:
2 DCLs with multiple rooms to take family along with us all on points.
3 DCLs for DW and I all on points 1-4 night and 2-7 night.
2 DCLs for DW and I with one on points and one on cash.
1 DCL for DW and I all on cash - special rate that cost us less than $100 per day per person.
and
Now planning points use for next DCL for May '18.
