What happens when the pools close?

If the navigator says that the pools close at 6... What exactly does that mean? In other words, let's say I'm in the middle of a great movie on funnel vision and since I have second dinner seating, I wanna stay and finish the movie at the pool. Are the cast members gonna come take my lounge chair out from under me? Are they literally gonna come tell my daughter to get out of the Mickey pool? What am I in for?

What navigator are you looking at that says the pools close at 6? Our last cruise, they closed at 10pm or 11pm. (I think a water feature or kids' slide may close at 6).

Sample navigator from January '17 here on Dis... The pools and all features except aquaduck close from 6-8

My thinking was we could get some evening pool time in while everybody else is at the early show or dinner... That's why I ask

That only happens on Pirate Night to get ready for the early deck show. Even SWDAS has the pools open later.

Yes, they will make your daughter get out of the pool because they will cover the entire deck to make it a solid surface. I assume that will clear the chairs too unless you are way off to the side.

I appreciate your feedback! Here's the link to what I'm looking at. They close every afternoon at 6 and reopen at 8:30. My mistake, it wasn't DIS.

This was my HUGE beef when we were on the Magic. We had come from the West coast and had late seating. Since the pools are always busy, my kids were looking forward to some quieter pool time during early seating dinner. Nope. Main pool was closed, the only one that was open was the little kids pool. So disappointing…

It didn't make any sense, most of the younger kids were at early dinner. We were told it was a staffing/lifeguard issue...

Hmmm. I'm not sure why the Donald pool closes during that time but the Mickey pool stays open. Day 1 & pirate night make sense because of deck shows, but I don't know why that's there the other two days. Unless it's for cleaning whereas the Mickey pool gets closed much more frequently.

On our recent cruise on the Magic, the Goofy pool closed every night from 6-8. There are still movies showing on funnel vision, so if you wanted, you could hang out there and watch, but I think even some of the pool food places close at 6. The kiddie pool may have stayed open......I can't remember.

Maybe, as a cost cutting measure, they close the pools early in the winter months because not many people were there after the sun went down?

We've only cruised on DCL in Jan and Feb, and the pools were all open til 10pm or 11pm (except satellite falls or for shows). I wonder if it's a new thing.

The Wonder was the same earlier this month but what made the closings even more bizarre was there were few deck chairs to watch funnel vision with - one had to sit at the tables on the outside of the pool area. I was used to the Dream class where when the pool is closed but funnel vision is still showing an evening movie they actually seem to have out extra chairs and place in rows theatre style for everyone to watch with instead of putting chairs away in stacks with the movie running to a virtually empty deck.

IMO the pools don't even have hours. They are always closed it seems like. Rarely ever open. If you go right about 6:50 there will be NO ONE at the pool or aquaduck(Dream class only). If the pool is closed it doesn't mean the deck chairs will be gone too. Only at night or for a show or something.

This is a really interesting thread. I thought it was going to be about when they have to close the pools because someone had an "accident" in the water.

Our last cruise was on the dream class 3 years ago and I cannot remember seeing in the navigator that the pools close at that time and I was never on deck then because we were going to main dining. I thought late dining cruisers were at the show from 6-8pm? Are they closing the pools trying to get more cruisers to attend the shows instead of hanging around at the pool?
