What happens if you miss an ADR?

What happens if you miss an ADR? Anything? I have a couple of ADRs where if we are having fun and the boys don't want to leave to sit down and eat, we will just skip them. However, if they are going to charge me for them then I would make sure to be there or cancel them.

Whether you get cjharged for them or not you should cancel them, as it is the polite thing to do.
Some restaurants may charge you a small per person fee, others may charge you for the entire costs while other s won't charge you anything. It all depends on the restaurant and their cancellation terms. Some want a 48 hr. notice.

How do you know what each restaurant's cancellation terms are? Of course I'm going to try to make my ADRs, however if something comes up or the boys refuse to go i.e. throw a temper tantrum, I will obviously not make the reservation. I've read on the board how nothing happens and then read how you can get charged...so I need to know how to find out. I never gave a credit card for any of my reservations, so what exactly would they charge a fee to?

I believe the only ones you could be charged for are ADR's that require a credit card to reserve (ie: CRT.) I'm not sure what the charge is, but I agree with the PP and make sure you cancel an ADR you can't make, even if it is 15 minutes before your time. That way some walk up guests can get a table.

I was wondering this too... I don't plan on missing any of mine either, as I realize it is "impolite" but when you are traveling with little ones, sometimes things don't go as planned. I don't think they can charge for any of the ones that did not require a deposit. I don't see how they could? Anyone can book with nothing more than an unconfirmed name and an unconfirmed phone number. But I will certainly put forth my best efforts to call and cancel if I do have to miss...Even if it is close to the reservation time. Would you just call the main number (407) WDW-DINE to cancel?

I'm sorry my answer was kind of general but since you did not state the restaurnats it was the best way for me to answer.
When you made your ADRs you should have been told what the cancellation policy was for each restaurant. Since you did not make any ressies with a CC hold then you shouldn't be charged. Even so, it will be thoughful to call and cancel as soon as you know you won't keep your ADR.

See my answer above. ;)

Yes things don't go according to plan, especially with little ones, but how many times have you read on here how people can't get ADRs? Cancelling may just add some pixie dust to someone elses trip.

Yes, I believe the 407) WDW-DINE is the right number to call to cancel. I have it programmed into my cell phone.

Yup...pretty much if you did not give them a credit card number to guarantee the reservation then there would not be any charge. CRT I know you have to pay for up front and there is a cancellation fee -- no show you are just out the entire cost (for us over $200...better believe we are showing up for that one).
All of the restaurants state this on the website
A cancellation policy applies and may result in charges if you cancel with insufficient notice. Specific policies related to this facility will be detailed at time of reservation booking.
I also found this when I was looking at making ours
