What happens at 30 days out on waitlist?

I went back and reread what it says on the DVC site about waitlisting. If I understand it correctly, it says that your waitlist will be automatically confirmed when it comes thru up to 31 days out from the date.

What happens after that - are you removed from the list?

I've only waitlisted once before and that didn't come thru until 30 days out.

All waitlists are canceled at the 30 day mark. Those who want to stay on the waitlist may call MS and request to remain.**

At 7 days there are no more waitlists. Those who still home for something must call MS(recommend at least daily) to see if anything has become available.


** The reason for this is the "holding account". When you cancel a reservation less than 31 days prior to arrival, the points are returned to your account, but they are returned in "holding status". That means they may only be used for reservations made 60 days or less prior to arrival. So if you have a waitlist come through for something that uses less points than what you currently have, the "extra" points will go into holding. MS just cancels all waitlists at the 30 day mark to avoid having to deal with those complications.
