It's sad to think someone would try to use a child in a money scam, but it happens. A few months ago on my local news, there was a report of a mother attempting to scam the Make a Wish foundation for a free trip, saying her child had cancer, she didn't.
About a year ago, another mother actually gave her daughter sedatives, and told her she took her to the doctors, where she was diagnosed with leukemia. The mom continued to sedate her daughter, telling her she took her to drs. appointments where she underwent chemotherapy. While the daughter was unconscious her mother shaved her head and gave her medication so she would vomit to show signs of radiation sickness. She told everyone in her neighborhood about her poor daughter, and had several organizations taking up donations for her. Eventually she got caught, I can't remeber the specifics, but, how sick is that??
I mean trying to con your friends, fellow church members and family by pretending your daughter has cancer and going to such elaborate measures is unbelievable, but to actually tell your own daughter that she is dying, when she isn't, IMO is just evil![]()

This is called Munchaussen's Syndrome by Proxy. Someone makes up symptoms and elaborate illnesses in their children to get attention.

However, when others were offering concrete ways to help with medical bills, Make a Wish etc. , the OP came back with a response that MAW might not grant it because the dd isn't that sick right now. (or words to that affect). Then she again asked about how to go about setting up a fund drive for Dismembers' donations. That's all I was able to read.

When I found out about Benji's brain tumor, the first thing after throwing up, and threatening to dismantle his dr, was send a blanket email out to everybody i knew asking for prayers. I also posted the same email to the different forums i was on.
Going through this personally, I can say from experience that in a sense, you run on autopilot. You've been given terrible news, yet, you need to drive home, you need to pick up your other child, the sun is shining. Everything is normal. You're kinda numb at first.
So, I don't think there's a right way to act. I don't know if this lady is lying or not, but either way, I think she really needs our prayers.
