WOW!
Rented a midsize from national last week for 313.00 for 2 weeks in March.
Checked rates today and they are up to $520??( base was $486 with AAa discount. Used a $30.00 coupon too) How can that be ? Doubled checked numbers ..:confused3
This is the first time renting a car in Florida and I can't believe how prices can change so drastically fom week to week...

I know what you mean! I went through the same thing myself a couple of times now. When I find a good rate and they have a "cancel w/no fee" option, I reserve it. Then if I find a better rate a couple weeks down the road, I reserve it and cancel the other. Just read what the site has for cancelation policies. This was some of the best advice I've received from the Disboards so far.

We will be at WDW this november and I've already reserved a car. Now I just watch the sites for the next 9 months. I wish you the best.:wizard:

I noticed the same thing. I made a ressie last week and was able to get a intermediate for $160 for 8 days, but now that I need to change the time of the drop off the rate has gone way up!

I hope they drop the rates again pixiedust:

O.k. Now I'm nervous... What do you mean make sure you can cancel the reservation with out a fee??????
They can charge you for canceling a ressie? WHAT!!!
When does a charge appear?
Oh , man , I might be in some serios trouble... I made about 4 ressies that I've cancelled. ( I only left my card # with the Southwest ressie...)
Where does it say that , or is it just certain companies???
Great.... something else to worry about...

Sorry to worry you like that. Its a per company thing. Most have a "window" of cancelation times. When you get close (24hrs-48hrs) thats when the fee's hit hard I think. I was just always advised to watch your reservation and cancelation policy. So before I book a reservation I check the policy on the website. I could be wrong. I'm not an expert on this subject but these are the things I was told and it's what "I do". I tend to play life on the apprehensive side.

I have canceled a ressie before and when I showed up they still had two reservations. (my old and the new one) SO thankfully I pulled out a copy of my cancelation and everything was taken care of. (When I canceled my online reservation I just printed the confirmation# etc and placed it into my planning folder)

Anyone care to share any experiences with this topic?

haha at times I feel like this place is my adoptive family. It relfects in our posts..some you appreciate, some you tollerate and others you just ignore. Kinda like a real family. :)

Stitch: This is my family. I found it, all on my own. It's little, and broken, but still good. Yeah, still good.

Also, a few days before your trip, go to the car rental website and pull up your ressies, checking that you only have one for the upcoming trip.
I do this each time, because with all rebooking, you could forget to cancel one.
