:confused: Does anyone know what happened to Back Lot Tour at MGM? Is it gone? Why? What are they putting in its place?
Please let me know....
A back lot junkie.:crazy:

Back Lot Tour is still there. Just the residential homes are gone - there's a new stunt show going up in its place.

Have fun on Backlot :) :)

The trams were running last time I was there in June, but there wasn't much to see. They still went through the sewing/costume area and catastrophe canyon, but residential street is gone. They are building a new auto stunt show similar to a very popular show at Disney Paris. Unless they do something to bolster this attraction, I think it will eventually be srapped.

::yes:: Ageed.

Once the stunt show opens....I think this will be scrapped. It is getting old. The "Pearl Harbor" thing is just getting really lame. We have tried to bypass that part and they don't let you.:earseek:
My DD just likes to ride the tram for a break and see the Canyon.....but for the length of time you spend on this attraction.......I'd much rather ride TOT a few times or see B&TB twice.

It's still there - boring as ever...just rode it a little over a week ago. I agree that the canyon is the ONLY reason I rode it.

I was wondering about the future of the attraction myself last weekend.

One thing that made the whole thing look like a real backlot was Residential Street. Sure Catastrophy Canyon is still there, but it is a little old.

Last Saturday when we rode it, there were problems with the Canyon. All of the effects went off, but we sat in the Canyon for 10 minutes before anything happened. The Guide was desperately trying to fill in the time, but he was obviously not ready to do so. He ended up basically telling us what was supposed to happen.

It all eventually did happen, but it was not in the normal "Oh No! We are in the Canyon during a special effects shoot!" thing.

Put me down for another vote for the need to do something with it. I can't see them removing it. I mean, being a REAL studio is one of the things that Disney stresses about the park.

I don't know how loud the new stunt show is going to be, but seeing as how the Backlot tour winds around the new stadium, I can't imagine how the noise from the show won't bleed over to the Tour. Hmm, maybe that is what they want...

Now that I think of it (and I have the time working at almost 2am Pacific), the Tour drives by the end of the new arena. It looked like we were just a few feet from the end of the "road". I can see them factoring in the timing so that most of the Tour trams will get to see a car or motorcycle speeding towards them.

we rode this at mgm in DLP and really enjoyed it,seems a shame its not as good in the us

When we were there in July, my son asked the driver about all the missing components like Walts plane. He told us that after the construction was finished the routes would change again and some of the things will be added back in. I guess we can just wait until then to see what they do with it.
