What food should I expect at the Crystal Palace?

I havent eaten here in more than 10 years or so (since I was a wee lad) and even then, it was only at breakfast. My last trip, my GF and I were drawn to this resturant cause of the victorian style, but were reluctant to eat there because it was a buffet, and buffets seem to be hit or miss. However, for our trip in Sept, I think I want to eat there, but I was just wondering, what sort of food might I expect on the dinner buffet?

Thanks

For lunch, when I was there a few months ago, they had everything from salads to macaroni and cheese to yummy salmon. The food was surprisingly good, with items well seasoned and some creative (good) dishes.

It was WAY better than DH and I had expected.

Very nice variety, and yes, we recommend the salmon too. We loved CP. :thumbsup2

Have only been there for breakfast, which we love. We pick a day that does not have EMH and we feel as though we've got a jump on the crowd because we are finished before 9. The breakfast foods are good, but especially the vegetable frittata. So yummy!

I had some of the best prime rib I have ever had -- and I am not just including prime rib found on buffets -- it was delicious.

They also had really good roasted pork. It was one of my 3 favorite meals--the others: Le Cellier and Boma.

I would definitely go again.

Wow guys, you've really sold me on the idea. Had no idea the food was that good. I'm feeling less like I am merely "settling" for CP, to actually really looking forward to it.

Thanks!

Crystal Palace is awesome, the food is very good. Only drawback is that it is a little messy with all the little Disney kids really enjoying the characters. Make sure you have ADR's. I have seen so many people told they have to wait an hour or more to get in.

I'm not a big buffet fan...but...I was pleasantly surprised by CP! We've been twice and we're booked for a third for our next trip. The food is actually decent. Be aware, like another poster mentioned, it is a kid magnet (thus why we're returning for a third time!) and is filled with families. You had mentioned being drawn in by the victorian theme - just wanted you to be well informed. :goodvibes

I LOVE the salmon, they have had some sort of curry dish that I like a lot too.
The chef brought my mom and I a big bowl of fruit to our table because they didnt have any out at the time.
Im a huge fan of the red velvet cheesecake I love to eat it with ice cream.
At lunch they had lemon squares,,, when my mom went to get more the cm had just put them away and had brought out the cheesecake,,, my mom made him dig out the last two lemon squares:) they really are that good.

Best buffet-style meal I've ever had. The salads were "different" but not in a bad way...they were some of the best I've tasted. The meats were cooked perfectly...the prime rib carving was just as good as anything you'd get at a sit-down meal. The vegetables and potatoes were also cooked/seasoned perfectly.

The desserts were hands-down the best buffet desserts I've ever had and I doubt I'll ever find a place that tops them. They had all the standard desserts (which I passed over quickly) like brownies, cookies, ice-cream, etc. The ice-cream station had a sundae bar for the kids. Now onto the "real" desserts. I took a small sample of about half of them and I can't remember what others items were there that I didn't sample. I tried the coconut flan (delicious...went back for seconds on this), peanut butter pie, key lime pie, red velvet cheesecake (this was my least favorite...the cheesecake was delicious, but the "cake" part was slightly dry), tiramisu, and boston cream pie. Like I said, these were only a few of the selections available. There were two dessert bars and you need to check out both of them because some items are unique to only one of the tables.

This is YMMV...when I was there they had out two fruit salads. One was a mixture of watermelon, cantelope, honeydew, and strawberries. The other one was a tropical mixture.
