What exactly is TIW ?

so you get 20 % off but then 18 % is added on I'm not seeing the benefit :confused3

it covers alcohol. Dining Plan does not. It also applies to restaurants that DO NOT participate in DP such as V&A.

since most people regularly tip about 15-18% anyway, that's a wash. or maybe you can justify that using TiW covers the tip.

if we are ever in a position to be eligible for TiW we are sooo getting it.

loving the sharing of info by MOST ignoring nonsensical posting by others

It seems a little nonsensical to ask questions and then, when you don't like the answers, get angry at the people who were just trying to help.

In the UK it's unheard of to tip that high. It's not customary and is only given when service and food is both excellent and then no more than 10%TOPS I would say, I personally find it really odd to account for it as its not a cost we usually have here! Xx

In the US, waitstaff are paid below the minimum wage because the tip is assumed. We're probably the only ones who tip between 18 and 20 on average for that reason, but visitors from other countries might want to consider this fact when deciding on what to leave - provided someone explains it to them. Dan is especially generous!! I have tipped 25%, but only for truly exceptional service.

Based on the current pricing, the following is the break-even point for menu pricing (assuming you will routinely give an 18% tip):
AP Holder or DVC Member ($100) is $469.48
Resident (not AP holder) ($125) is $586.85
Both of the above take into consideration that the Sales Tax is also discounted.

If I am not mistaken, don't most of the TIW locations also give a 10% discount for DVC members? So doesn't that mean that when calculating the break even point for DVC member TIW card we should be comparing the "20% off price" to the "10% off price".

I'm new at this so I apologize if I got it wrong.

There are only a few TIW locations that give DVC discount for dinner

True. In fact, Yak and Yeti offers a 10% DVC discount (alcohol not included) but is not covered by TiW.
I love TIW though! I rarely eat at Y&Y because they don't take it, so I'd rather eat at Sanaa with my TIW than at Y&Y with my DVC.

If I am not mistaken, don't most of the TIW locations also give a 10% discount for DVC members?

It's nowhere near "most". Worth checking though. there were something like two total restaurants we were going to on our last trip that were on both lists. Not worth using DVc. TIW was the winner.

Thanks to this poster and several others for the clarification. I guess I need to go search for the DVC dining discount list.

Some counter service restaurants off the 20% discount and there is no tip added. Important if you're staying at a hotel whose restaurant offer this.

Hi Dan, Where did you sign up for the emails?

I'm thinking when you become a member they will come regularly into your email address provided at the time

How Do I Become a Member?
To order the Tables in Wonderland membership, call (407) 566-5858, Monday through Friday between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. EST, allowing 3-4 weeks for delivery. To purchase a Tables in Wonderland membership once you arrive in Disney World, visit Guest Relations at Epcot, Magic Kingdom, Animal Kingdom, Disney’s Hollywood Studios, or Downtown Disney

I have an Android phone (Samsung Galaxy S4) and found a really nice app that shows which restaurants accept which discounts (TiW, DVC, AP, and Disney Visa). It's called MousePerks. Highly recommend it.

Not all states.

I want to clarify, now that I'm not on my phone...if we had made different dining choices our choice wouldn't have been as clear. But our fave restaurants were on the TIW list and not on the DVC or AP lists, or not enough to make it worth it.

There does not seem to be a single restaurant at MK that offers an AP discount.

And then the link above gives the DTD and resort dining info as well.

The biggest issue for us was the timing. We ate at Via Napoli (yuck) but at dinner. So AP discount didn't apply.

Assuming this is accurate, it's allears' comparison chart for discounts. But you still have to watch for the timing of meals.

And remember that AP and DVC discounts don't discount alcohol, while TIW does.

Some counter service restaurants off the 20% discount and there is no tip added.

All value food courts including AOA.
Sassagoula Float Works at POFQ
Artist's Palette at SSR
Just about all quick service restaurants at Animal Kingdom PARK.

Sadly, they haven't for me. It's not really important to me because I can't drop things and fly x-country for an event. :) But if I cared I'd need to call or email them to make sure they have my email address.
