It's a discount card you can purchase if you are a Florida resident, DVC member or annual passholder. It gives you 20 percent off at most TS restaurants and some CS. There is an automatic 18 percent gratuity added to the check when you use the card.

so you get 20 % off but then 18 % is added on I'm not seeing the benefit :confused3

You are going to be tipping at least 18% anyway on your table service dining with or without the TIW card. You get 20% off the top of your bill.

Do you not tip?

ok of COURSE I do but not that you deserve an answer but when we eat out if this "generic" tip is added into the bill we ALWAYS give the server extra...are you helping me figure this out..I don't think so

This comment always cracks me up. I had no idea that there were so many people out there who apparently don't feel the need tip servers. No wonder service is terrible in some places!

I think they responded with that question because your response implied you don't tip since the 18% only offsets the 20% if you don't leave a gratuity normally. Otherwise, it's not a factor.

I usually tip 20-25%. When I use my TiW card, I figure the difference between the 18% and whatever I want to actually tip. I add that amount to my credit card when I pay. So on a $100 pre-discounted bill, I would tip let's say $25. When the bill comes, it shows $80 plus $18. I add an additional $7.

TiW card is $100. I need to spend $500 over 13 months to break even. I always do.

In the UK it's unheard of to tip that high. It's not customary and is only given when service and food is both excellent and then no more than 10%TOPS I would say, I personally find it really odd to account for it as its not a cost we usually have here! Xx

Are UK wait staff paid a base wage higher than average US wait staff are paid? If so, then less of their income would necessarily have to come from tips.
