Online booking is my #1 wish.
I wouldn't want online booking from Disney if you threw it at me.
And I am a person who is online, loves to do my own stuff by myself, thank you very much.
WHY?
Disney can't seem to design an efficient working website to save their life. Nothing works the way it should~ ESPECIALLY when booking a room.
Case in point: I helped my sibs book a room on disneyworld.com for a June trip to CBR. DB and his wife wanted a king room. DSis wanted a Pirate room. We go online, type in the dates, and both room categories come up as available.
GREAT! We book them.
Later on, DSis wants to make sure their reservations are linked so that they can hopefully get rooms together. She goes online and we can't even see where you can look up your own reservation. Ridiculous.
She pulls out the reservation and then sees that she has a STANDARD room, not a Pirate room. So we call and sure enough, even though I watched her select the Pirate room online, the CM says, "No, you have a standard room."
And it wasn't even that there were no Pirate rooms available ~ there were! Thankfully, CM Nicholas was a fabulous person and got her room reservation straightened out for her.
While on the phone with Nicholas, we asked him to check DB's reservation to make sure he had a king room. Even though we booked that category room online, it was only listed as a "request". Thankfully, there was a king room left and Nicholas booked that guaranteed king room for him.
Morale of the story: While I have every confidence in booking online with Hilton, Holiday Inn, Country Inn and Suites and a host of other hotel chains, I have ZERO confidence in Disney's IT department to do online reservations without messing something up like this. I'd end up spending more time, double checking to make sure nothing got messed up on their end of things.
I know that calling in lately has been a pain, but most of us veterans know that these times are few and far between. Yes, it stinks to happen when you have to be calling in, but given the choice between Disney's IT designing an online reservation system and calling MS...I'll call MS.
