What does your dog bark at?

The only thing my dog barks at is wildlife in the yard that she can't chase. Squirrels, cats, opossums and rabbits are all regular visitors in our yard.

Me. Especially when dinner isn't put out fast enough or when she wants to go to bed and we're still watching TV.

All the usual things. But also for some reason tape measures drive him crazy. He barks and attacks! We are his 4th family (his first owners turned him in to the pound, then he was adopted twice and returned - idk how people can do that! - but we're glad they did, because we are his forever home! - we've had him now for about 6+ years). We can't figure out if one of his former owners played with him with tape measures or punished him.

Leota barks at: deer (real or imagined), laughing, clapping, unexpected sounds, the neighbors, the dog across the street, any dog we pass in the car, birds, animals on tv

Rosie is still figuring out what she wants to bark at. Sometimes she'll bark at people, sometimes not. Sometimes she'll bark at other dogs, sometimes not.

We had a greyhound who passed in December 2020. I only remember him barking one time. We were outside at night hanging by the fire pit. He was lying down next to my chair, when suddenly his ears perked up, he stood, and then he barked for several seconds. I have no idea what it was.

No pets but daughter has a German Sheppard, huge one. He has the run of the yard and barks at the deer. Barks at me because he adores me, arguably more than her, LOL. As soon as I come around he goes absolutely nuts. He barks at anything and everything. Barks, whines, howls, growls, moans... Typical vocal German Sheppard.

She's out in the country with him at mom's where I use to live. No city, it's volunteer fire company. When the siren goes off he howls like there's no tomorrow.

The little one barks at snow plows banging on the street.

The big one barks to play and howls at sirens, too.

My one dog barks at everything, especially me when it’s time to eat. My other one hardly ever barks with the exception that she watches TV and barks at the animals when she sees them. She seems to get especially upset at horses more than any other animal. She loves to watch TV so much I’ll put on animal shows for her.

Our older one barks when someone comes to the door including us, when his “friend” Boomer is outside on the other side of the fence and when he wants to come in

We have a 9 week old puppy that hasn’t really found his voice yet but tries to bark if you are ignoring him.

I have a Bernese Mountain Dog and he's good sized at 110lbs but rarely barks. The only time he barks is if he senses someone he doesn't feel right about or some kind of threat to me(coyotes). When other dogs bark at him he barely pays attention to them. We've been outside early in the morning with deer on my neighbors lawn and he isn't fazed at all -not even an attempt to chase them 🤷‍♂️ .

My mom's dog (who we see pretty much daily) is a 1yo Goldendoodle... that means he barks at everything. :rolleyes1 :rotfl:

Hamilton is a 1 year old hound who howls at everything and I mean everything - a piece of paper could be blowing down the street and he howls. I am so afraid the neighbors are going to call on him since he is so loud and when he gets started he just can't stop.

Max (11 almost 12) barks are anyone walking down the street, the mailman and all delivery/garbage trucks. Max is my special needs dog. He has a canine form of autism and possibly Alzheimer's - he is a handful and I know why he was returned to the shelter. We have had him for 10+ years but he really takes a lot of energy and planning especially if we want to go away or have people over.

My dog barks at the mail man more than anything else, as she has spent the last 11 years since I rescued her convinced that he is going to break into our house through the mail slot. Only through her barking and growling has she kept me and the house safe 6 days a week for the past 11 years. Her dedication is truly admirable I have to say.

She also gives a half-hearted bark when the phone rings and also at the printer. She does not bark at other dogs, squirrels, or people outside even including the mailman. She really is special.

Our Lucy was adopted and returned twice, too. I don't know how someone could do that either (well, I do, she's a neurotic mess). She hates the wheelbarrow, goes nuts whenever she sees it. Power tools are the devil as well.

The other big dog barks at snakes. He has a specific bark just for the danger noodles that he doesn't use for anything else.

The little dog barks at deer, people, squirrels, leaves, birds, trash cans, the neighbors, us, other dogs, bicycles, you get the picture.

Other than the usual…

Our new puppy surprised us by barking angrily at our uncovered grill. He’s fine when the cover is on. He does not like it off lol.

Our dog will bark once to be let out if we're not in the kitchen area. He will bark at the neighbors dogs, but most of the time he's a non-barker.

The only thing our dog barks at is everything. (Only slightly exaggerating)
