What does your dog bark at?

They bark at strangers entering our property...living alarm system. They stop when we come outside.

She will bark when someone comes into the house without knocking (even one of us), but only after dark. She growls at the big white dogs down the street, but not at most other dogs. She will also bark if she gets stuck—accidentally closed in a bedroom, outside if her lead gets tangled and she can’t get to the door to scratch to be let back in and, the biggest head scratcher, her bowls, but only if there is food in them. We are trying to figure this out, but it really makes no sense. I bought her new bowls a few years ago. They sit in an elevated stand which I wanted because otherwise the roomba crashes into them and spills water. She is fine with the water bowl, but refuses to eat out of the food bowl and just barks at it. My husband feeds her on a paper towel on the floor. Every so often we try feeding her normally again and she barks at it until we put the food on the floor. She drinks out of the water bowl which is identical to the food bowl and in the same 2 bowl raised holder. Crazy. And annoying. There’s always a dirty paper towel on my kitchen floor.
