What do you use for trays for the car?

We leave on the 25th for our first drive to WDW, we are coming from WNY. Both my kids are still in booster seats, and I am at a loss at what to do for trays for them during the drive. I found these http://www.amazon.com/Star-Kids-Sna...d=1344556889&sr=8-1&keywords=star+travel+tray but I am cheap and was wondering if someone has a good "homemade" version of a car travel tray? They will be using it for writting/coloring/snacking etc...

We used these when the kids were littler - in fact they still sometimes take one in the car for something and they are 13 and 11:

And we didn't use that brand - I bought something similar somewhere (I've seen them at Michael's recently) and they were under $10 each, maybe even closer to $5 on sale.

Those are a good idea! I need to make trip to Michaels anyway, I'll have to check them out. :thumbsup2

We used cheapy cookie sheets ( the kind with an edge all the way around)

I think they were about $2 each at a dollar store type place. And best of all we got a bunch of disney princess and winnie the pooh magnets at the dollar store and combined with the metal cookie sheet we had another activity for the car.

We've always used a cheap 59 cent clipboard from target. It works great for coloring because it holds the sheets securely. You really don't need anything for snacking - I mean it's not like they need to use a knife and fork or anything. It takes up a lot less space than a tray, too. You can store it in the pocket behind the front seats.

Not homeade but what about those trays with the bean bag bottom.

I'll have to look for these when I am out. :thumbsup2

I never would have thought of this, great idea. The magnets stick to these, I always thought cookie sheets were made out of aluminum? :upsidedow

That's a great idea! They don't need a tray for snacking, but with my kids it will end up everywhere and hopefully a tray will help contain their mess. Plus we might do a drive-thru meal which might be a little easier to eat if they have a flat surface. We will be in the car 20hrs, I want to make it as UN-miserable as possible. :scared:

These are amazing! I love the pouches on the side, and the hold cups, water bottles, crayons & snacks for us!

This is a much better price then the ones that I found. :thumbsup2
