What do you use for shampoo?

We have relalized all of our sample bottles of shampoo are empty. We have been looking for trial sizes of our favorite shampoo and there is none out there. On our last trip we tried a plastic bottle but all of the shampoo leaked out and there was a mess everywhere. So what do you use for shampoo? Thanks :confused3 :confused3

Go to targets or a local chain drugstore, buy some of the small empty travel bottles they have and bring your own shampoo.

That's what I do. Also, to prevent the mess, put them in a ziplock bag. So, if it does spill, it won't get all over the rest of the stuff. I do the same thing with my powder, which ALWAYS gets all over everything.

We do the same thing. In fact, we pack all of our toiletries in separate ziploc bags. It makes it much easier than putting everything loose in a carry-on. :)

This is what we do!

Use the ones the hotel provides!!!!!! WDW gives you new bottles every day. Another option is get a 'toiletries" bag. It has individual pockets for shampoo, toothbrushes, little zipper pockets, etc. And fill with your own shampoo.

When your next bottle gets low, but enough to last for your trip, set it aside. Pack it in the ziplock bag mentioned above and take with you. Finish it at the hotel and toss the bottle before coming home. We do this with all toiletries. It also frees up space in the suitcase for the trip home.

i was talking to a friend about this issue and she asked if the leaks happened after a plane flight,, Seems the pressure differences in a plane can cause this to happen. she told me to always zippybag products like this

I just reuse my old shampoo bottles. Those little ones are nice and I just write on the side of the bottle what the shampoo is. That way you don't have to keep buying new bottles and you can take your favorite with you if you don't have a small bottle. Also, I agree that puting it in a ziplock is a very safe way to go as DH didn't do this on our last trip and his travel bottle cracked. Luckily the shampoo only got in his shower bag.

If you already have sample size bottles, why don't you just refill them?

We both have toiletry bags that we use when we travel, they are lined in plastic so easily cleanable if anything spills, they have plenty of compartments and best of all they hold full size bottles and containers so we just carry our normal stuff from home. Never had a problem with spills and much easier then dumping product from one bottle into another.

I used to use travel size, but found regular shampoo that is in a smaller container that would last longer but still wan't too big to take

I always keep a toiletry bag packed...Just in case we decide to do a last minute overnight trip. If we run out, we restock right away so we have time to look for our favorite products in sample sizes before our next trip.

I also put all my toiletries in ziplock bags in case they spill. I use the gallon size bags and keep all of my shower items in one bag (shampoo, conditioner, soap, body wash, etc). That way I don't have to dig through to get all my items for the shower, I can just grab the one bag.

Also, a lot of times the dollar stores have small shampoo bottles that are larger than the travel size bottles, but not as large as the regular size bottles. I get those and then keep refilling the bottles.

I have a weird addiction to little plastic containers, so I keep heading to REI to buy more. My latest kick is these little guys. If I need anything that's not available in a trial size, I buy another little container and fill it up (those darned aerosol containers are my nemesis).

I've found that the cause of most spills is that things aren't packed snugly enough. When there's too much room in a bag, that's when the bottle shift around, or other things suddenly end up smooshing the contents out of them. I don't use baggies, but I haven't had any spills, either.

I also really like the small Nalgene bottles from REI. I've never had one leak or crack and I've been taking about one trip a month for over a year now. I do pack them in a ziploc just to be safe, though.

I always buy one bottle of each shampoo & conditioner of some on sale brand (usually suave) from the target or wal-mart there. The whole family uses them and if there is any left, it's no big deal to throw them out because they were cheap. Of course, this won't work if you have to have certain, more expensive brands, but I found that one week of cheaper shampoo won't hurt you!!!!

I'm lucky, Target sells my brand (Pantine) in travel size. I then refill from my own full size bottle supply.
