Now that Pandora is open, Star Wars & Toy Story Lands are under construction and permits are being filed at Epcot, it seems logical that the next park to get some love will be The Magic Kingdom.

MK - New Fantasyland (2014)
AK - Pandora (2017)
HS - Star Wars Land & Toy Story Land (ETA 2019)
Epcot - TBA (~2021 [50th anniversary])

I'm wondering what you think this next refurb could be?

We know it probably won't be an expansion or a new land since there's not much real estate left around MK.

I personally think it will be Tomorrowland.
  • They will update the Tomorrowland Speedway with electric vehicles or scrap it altogether for a new attraction.
  • They will close Stitch's Great Escape and build a new attraction.
  • They will close Monster's Inc. Laugh Floor and build a new attraction or add a second track to Buzz Lightyear Space Ranger Spin.
  • They will update Carousel of Progress with a new scene for the present/short term future.
  • They will do a major refurb on Space Mountain.

Do you agree or do you think another area will get refurbished next?

Yesterdayland... I mean Tomorrowland.... is definitely the area that needs the most love.

I'd like to see a complete gut of Space Mountain with an all new longer single track layout like they have at DL. If they made it a permanent Hyperspace Mountain all the better.

Stitch definitely needs to go. I don't know what they'll put there but anything would be better.

Don't expect a 2nd track for Buzz Lightyear, but I would like to see an improvement to the guns and targeting system.

Don't touch the WEDway Peoplemover!

Speedway definitely needs an update or overhaul. Electric vehicles would be a good start.

Carousel of Progress needs to progress out of the 1990s.

I think your assumption about there being no land for expansion is wrong. There is no reason they have to stay within the railroad tracks as Splash Mountain proves. While I believe you are right that Tomorrow land will get a refurbishment, I believe the next expansion will come in Adventure land behind Main Street and out beyond the tracks.

That would be interesting. I wonder what attractions they would choose to add.

Tomorrowland has to be the next one after Hollywood and Epcot. But thankfully it isn't as much of an emergency as the others. They have to just change parts of it, where as Hollywood seems like it's almost completely being changed, even the name. And the whole front and middle of Epcot may need to be redone, except for maybe Test Track and The Land building.

I think the general rumor right now is that Tomorrowland will get the big update and redevelopment heading into the 50th. I've also seen people that that an expansion of Adventureland or Frontierland is on the cards or a whole new land behind Liberty Square.

Tomorrowland is a definite. Adventureland is also likely to see some work. We will see a POTC refurb next year for sure.

I know it's a long shot, but I'm still praying for "Western River Expedition". Forget about World Peace and all that stuff, I'll take WRE. I'd get rid of the boring "Liberty Belle" and "Tom Sawyer's Island" and fill in The Rivers of America.

I would LOVE for them to build WRE. I'd rather see it as an expansion and leave Rivers of America alone though.

I guess they could always put it on Tom Sawyer's Island. It would be pretty cool if could only get to it by either a bridge or a raft.

Tomorrowland needs some love desperately, that I agree with. Stitch just needs to go, no one enjoys that ride.

You know it's bad when the guy with the stitch icon thinks that lol

I love Stitch to pieces (hence username and avatar). But other then the cool animatronics and some nice effects, that ride is PAINFUL! You gotta make sure your in the right position otherwise it's a crappy 20 minutes.

The last part to a tee. I've gotten my shoulders stuck in an awkward spot, and put the whole thing on a Guantanamo level of torture

Last time I was on it I made the mistake of being in a slightly slumped position, so when the restraints came down I didn't get "straight" fast enough so I was in TERRIBLE position. Like I was stuck being in slump for 20 minutes when all I wanted to do was stretch my back! It was so bad! I couldn't get out of those restraints fast enough.

I wish I could've gotten the chance to torture myself in alien encounter just once, but alas it ''twas before my time

It was miles better than Stitch but still not very good. In the end, more gross than scary. There is a reason it didnt last long. The original concept of using the Alien character would have been better, but again you are constrained by the physical property. It's just a crappy building for much of anything besides the original Mission to Mars type of experience.

I've seen videos/descriptions of AA bit tbh it doesn't do justice for that kind of ride. You're so right about the space though it's pretty useless in so many ways.

Tomorrowland will definitely get some major changes over the next 5 years (completion before 50th anniversary in 2021). There are also rumors that suggest Adventureland and Frontierland will also get some love.
