What do you think of this prom dress?

I like the top one alot better then the red. I think the black and white would look awsome. Hope you have a great prom.

I like the black and white one.

I like the first one better, but I am probably biased because it looks VERY similar to my own prom dress. I think the first one is more elegant, and would fit the theme of the prom better, but of course I don't know how either of them look on you and how the colors work with you, and that is a big part of the decision.

I would suggest you get what you feel best in. Which dress really makes you feel good when you wear it?

I know exactly what you mean. I wanted a fuller skirt, not huge (a "friend" of mine has a huge Cinderella type dress and I have no idea how she will function for 12 hours in it), but just a little bit of poof. I wanted color. Black is classy, but I didn't want a black prom dress. Everyone says the black one is very slimming (I am not the thinnest person in the world by any means), but it is too small. I need to lose a ton of weight in 2 weeks to be comfortable in it. I think the black one is *OK*, but I didn't feel like "This is it, this is my dress" when I tried it on. All my friends have absolutely gorgeous dresses that they love and I really feel like mine is just like eh. KWIM.

OK this is a Mom talking take the black one back tomorrow and get the red one!
Your dislike of the dress is coming thru loud and clear you will not be happy with it no matter what AND it sounds like it doesn't fit! You want to be happy and have a good time not worrying if it fits or sucking in your stomach the whole night. And shame on your Mom for buying a dress that you will have to starve yourself to fit into. that is to much pressure. Half the battle in looking good in clothes is being confident that you look good and if you feel this way already you won't be confident wearing it and it will show.

You are a young girl this is the time of life you should be happy go get the red dress!

both are very pretty but think the red one in prettier.

She bought you a dress that was too small? It really sounds like she is trying to make this about what she wants and not what you want.

OK, I'm changing to the red one, too. And get it in a size that fits you NOW, and that won't make it look too tight up top.

And tell your Mom we all love her but she is wrong about this...

I'm sorry I totally missed your post about it being too small. That is not right.

I have 3 little girls and I hope when it is time for their prom they get the dress THEY want and not one I choose for them in a too small size:confused3 Explain to your mom that you really appreciate her help but you would really like a different dress. One that you will be happy with and more importantly comfortable in. OOOOOH wait a minute, is it a price issue maybe??

You don't want your memories of your prom to be all about hating your dress! Unless there is a good reason not to (is the red one way more expensive than the black?) explain it to your mom, and exchange the black for the red.

Easy for me to say....I have 3 DSs! They couldn't care less what they wear!

Personally, I don't like either. But it's your choice and I say go with whatever you like.

I LOVE the red one!!! It looks like a red cinderella dress. If I were choosing between the 2 I would def pick the Red dress!!!!!

I just bought my graduation dress tonight, I had been searching for over a month to find that "one" dress ( not as important as prom of course!) but we were at the mall returning and I said what the heck lets run into JCPennys and the last dress i picked up and tried on I loved ( i hate when that happens!) but I found my dress!!!

Good luck and have fun at Prom!!

Thanks for posting the red one. I see no reason why your mom wouldn't want you to wear it.

Tell your mom that we said you should get the red one that you love and not be forced to wear some too small dress that mommy picked. :thumbsup2

Good luck!

Yes I am changing my thoughts to. You sound like you will be very uncomfortable in the black dress. Explain this to your mom. Tell her that you appreciate that she thinks you look great in it but that you need to feel like you look great so that you can have a great time. Take it back and wear the red one. Do it soon so that you and Mom can get on with the rest of the planing and have a great time.:thumbsup2

You guys are too funny! Quote: "And tell your Mom we all love her but she is wrong about this..." :rotfl2: I can just see me now..."Hey Mom, all my DIS friends love you but they think you are wrong." HAHA.
I should probably clarify. The black one isn't really too small. Like I can zip it up easily, but it is very tight in the stomach. There are no fat rolls around the top or anything, its all in the stomach. KWIM? The red one is like 100$ more if I remember correctly. But then I would need it taken in and hemmed and when its all said and done, it would end up being at least 200$ more than the black one.

I happen to like both dresses.
But this is a very important night in your life and you should pick the one the that makes you feel good.

I like the red one better. At my school it seemed that most girls wore black for homecoming, but then wore really pretty colors to prom. Go with the dress that you feel the most comfortable in. If you are going to be wearing it for a long time you want to be comfortable. You want to be able to breathe, eat dinner, dance, etc. And I just like the color red!

I love the first one! The second one, not so much. Have fun at your prom!

OK, Simba, I have to back away and let you decide now. I have to go out of town for the day, so I will miss the rest of this discussion.

But, I have two words for you - "Magic Panties." OK, that's not the brand name, but go to Victoria's Secret and get the control top panties they sell. Tell them you need a smoothing garment for a prom dress, and see if they will let you try on what they have. I'm telling you, we called them Magic Panties and DD18 used them on several occasions because they really did smooth out the tummy area.

Girl, with either of those dresses and a pair of Magic Panties, you will rule the prom...
