My mom and grandma love this prom dress so my mom bought it for me. I won't say my opinion. I did find another dress (it was red) that I LOVED and a friend of mine and her mom LOVED (I tried it on for the first time with them). Then I went back and showed my mom and she said it was OK, but she LOVED the one she bought. So I just said "Fine, the black ones fine. We'll just go with that one." My mom still loves this dress and thinks it looks amazing on me. This is the dress we bought, but it is black where the blue is and white where the black is. I want some honest opinions please! (Our theme is Hollywood/Club (Hollywood outside and for promenade and club inside, from what I've heard. And based on the details I've heard, I'm really not excited AT ALL, but thats a whole other story).

Here's the red one since someone asked. Honestly, this picture does not do it justice. It looks much better on, but at least you can somewhat get the idea.

I love it...Sounds MUCH better in the colors you are describing.

But, it is your prom, I hope YOU love the dress:idea:

I like the dress and I think it sounds even nicer in the black and white. But you should wear what makes you feel the best :goodvibes

It fits the theme. You get the dress that you want. Your mom's prom days are over.

Could be that the red dress that YOU love is something your MOM doesn't want you to wear. ;) Just a thought. Let's see a pic of that one.

Meanwhile - the black and white would be very nice for a Hollywood theme.

I get the feeling you don't like this dress and will wish all night you were wearing the red one. It's tough when moms won't get out of the way and let their daughters make their own choices about things like prom dresses, isn't it?

But, especially given your theme, the dress in the picture will be extremely sexy and elegant. Julia Roberts wore a vintage black and white dress one year at the Oscars and oh my Gosh she was spectacular. Spice it up with some heels and some kind of drippy, sparkly jewelry and you will look like a million bucks!!!

It doesn't do anything for me-sorry. Any pics of the one you like? Saw it-I like the red better.

As the mother of a 20 yo, I think you should get the dress YOU like as long as your mother doesn't disapprove of it for some reason. I think that dress is nice but you should love it.

ETA, I like the red one better. And they are so similar I don't know how you mom could disapprove of it.

That is DD in my siggie in the dress she wore to one of her proms.

Personally I like the top one, especially in black and white. But it is YOUR prom, you should choose!!

Who cares about the theme. I think you should get the red one if that is the one you like. It is your prom not your Mom's or Gr.Moms! You will regret it for ever or at least think about it when ever you think about your prom. As long as the red one is appropriate I'd get it. It seems like most of the gowns I've seen this year are bright colors. your young go bright.

Just saw the picture I like the red one better!

Actually I like them equally, as long as you wouldn't have that little fat roll hanging over the top of your dress the way that red model does!! (Disclaimer - I personally could not get either of those dresses over one of my hips, so I am talking theoretically here!)

I think the red one is a little "prommier" in that it has a fuller skirt and looks more like it would "swoop" if you know what I mean. I think the black and white one is a more classic line, though. What about the chest - yours, I mean? The red one would need a fuller chest to look its best, while the black and white one will have that contrast color down the side to draw the eye. Where do you want people to be looking?

Bottom line, they both are beautiful dresses - you won't have anything to worry about in either one!!!

I like the first one..in the black and white..it sounds very elegant. The red one is nice too....and if you love it...and she doesn't object, then go for it. Only thing is to me..and it's just my opinion..I think "Christmas" when I saw it..but that's me. What about something different altogether..not black but no red either. Is it just between these two?...

I don't know how you're built or what your shape/size is ... but the red dress makes that gal look heavier than she prob. is. More that likely, that's due to the cut of it and the fact that it's not a "fitted" dress. It's a pretty dress, but I don't think it's the most flattering cut (esp. on that model). You have to be careful that it doesn't make you look too "thick" in the middle. The red dress makes it appear as if that gal's trying to hide some weight. I think the other dress is more "slimming" (should that be the effect you're looking for). I suppose it really all depends on your shape and how you look in it. If you're trying to hide some weight, maybe the red dress would be better. If you're thin, the red dress *might* look poorly proportioned on you. If you're thin, the blue dress would really show that off. Hard to say ... wish I could see you in both dresses as it'd give a better idea.

Anyway ... it's YOUR prom ... you get the dress you love the most!!!!

The red one looks glamorous, but I think the cut of it makes the girl look bigger than she is. The waist isn't well defined, the skirt too wide. Maybe it's just the picture and doesn't really look that way in person, maybe it's the angle of the picture.:confused3

I think the red looks better.

I know exactly what you mean. I wanted a fuller skirt, not huge (a "friend" of mine has a huge Cinderella type dress and I have no idea how she will function for 12 hours in it), but just a little bit of poof. I wanted color. Black is classy, but I didn't want a black prom dress. Everyone says the black one is very slimming (I am not the thinnest person in the world by any means), but it is too small. I need to lose a ton of weight in 2 weeks to be comfortable in it. I think the black one is *OK*, but I didn't feel like "This is it, this is my dress" when I tried it on. All my friends have absolutely gorgeous dresses that they love and I really feel like mine is just like eh. KWIM.
