Starting to make plans for dining, and I thought we'd try some places we've never been to before for our next trip. Please feel free to give feedback on any of the following:

Blue Zoo
Mickey's Backyard Barbecue
1900 Park Fair
Flying Fish

And can anyone recommend good TS places for lunch--either in the parks or at resorts?
Thanks! :sunny:

We had the Mary Poppins Breakfast Buffet at 1900 Park Fair and it was lovely. We had a late seating - 11:20 AM, I think, and it was pretty empty. There was plenty of food and it was very tasty and fresh. The character interaction was unusually good as we didn't have much competition.

I can't recommend many TS lunches, as we usually did CS for lunch. The Whispering Canyon was fun and the food was good, but we felt that we lost a lot of time by going out to the WL in the middle of the day. The boat ride was great fun, though!

A couple places we like for lunch are ESPN (we walk from Epcot), or Kona Cafe at the Polynesian (monorail from MK). Both are nice relaxing escapes from the business of the parks.

We love 1900 PF....done both the breakfast and dinner and both were great.
Lunch - we like Flame Tree BBQ, Sci Fi and Columbia Harbour House.

We love the Flying Fish .. have always had great food and service.

Our favorite TS for lunch are LTT, Grand FL Cafe, Kona Cafe, Beaches and Cream and 50's.

Our favorite choice for lunch is Chefs de France at Epcot - Excellent food; professional though insensitive service (but what else would you expect?). It amazed me how the were able to elevate a "simple" ham and cheese sandwich from basic eating to cuisine. Of course, lunch is a lot less expensive than dinner, here, so it is a great way to enjoy this restaurant without paying big bucks.

In order:

Flying Fish
I really like Flying Fish. Great food and service.

Blue Zoo
My meal here was just a shade over "okay". My DH's meal was good, but my signature meal the "Dancing Fish" wasn't.

Mickey's Backyard Barbecue
Never been, but it sounds like fun!

1900 Park Fair
Big negatory from me for dinner. The buffet was not re-stocked, the character interaction was lousy, the service was bad and the caliopy (ok, spelled wrong!) was annoying.

As for table service lunches ...
MK:
Crystal Palace always has good food and the character interaction is good.

MGM:
I have heard that Mama Melrose's and is good and my DH likes Prime Time Cafe. I like the Brown Derby, but I don't think it's worth 2 credits.

Epcot:
The possibilities are endless! Coral Reef, Le Cellier, Alfredos, etc. IMO they are all good.

mickey BBQ - my DS& and I were a bit disappointed, food was ok, chara interaction was great!
But I thin we were just not into that type of music (country) so that put a damper on for the 2 of us, I should have expected it before I went, but just too much coutry fo me :) then again i am a huge city girl :)

Our favorite restaurant in all of WDW is The Flying Fish Cafe  , we go at least once every trip! As far as table service, another must do at least once is Beaches & Cream. :goodvibes

I don't believe Flying Fish is open for lunch. Nor is Mickey's Backyard Barbecue. I doubt Blue Zoo is either.

I read the post as two questions ...
(1) What about FF, BZ, MYBQ and 1900 PF?
(2) Where is a good TS for lunch.

:wizard: 1900 Park Fare is a great choice. I ate there for dinner last summer. I have not been to Flying Fish yey but other Disers have recommeded it to me on my next trip. :cool1: :thumbsup2 :cheer2:

My cousins went to Mickey BAckyard BBQ with the kids, ages 2- 8 and they said that the kids had fun, but the food was terrible. Ive never been myself but they said that the nurgers were so dry adn the rest wasnt good at all. The only good thing was that the drinks were unlimited. :teeth:

We had breakfast at 1900 Park Fare and it was wonderful- food and characters. We had lunch at Akershus with the princesses and really enjoyed it. Keep in mind that they serve Norwegian food, so it is different, but we like to experiment while we are at Epcot. Our lunch at Mama Melrose's in MGM was very good and I was with my Italian family- some are very particular- and everyone enjoyed it. We also had a great experience at Crystal Palace, we enjoyed our dinner so much that we went back for breakfast later in the week. Have fun! :goodvibes

Thanks for the responses!
Yes, we are looking for other TS restaurants that serve lunch, too.
And about Akershus--we were one of the few who actually loved the Norwegian smorgasbord before it switched to Princess meal. Is there still a good variety of Norwegian food now?

We were there for lunch on 12/31 and they still had the cold buffet and your entree was delivered to your table. I never ate there before it was a Princess venue, so I can't really compare. Here is the lunch menu: http://www.allearsnet.com/menu/menu_norl.htm

I have heard from friends that BlueZoo is NOT child friendly at all. But 1900 was great for breakfast.
As far as a TS for lunch, we have liked the Coral Reef at Epcot - much less crowded and quiter. At MK we like Crystal Palace, and the Plaza. At Animal Kingdom, we liked Rainforest Cae- but that seems to be a love/hate thing- some like it , and some HATE it.

Thanks for the link! While the menu looks decent, am I the only one who liked Akershus BEFORE they made the switch? **sigh** :guilty:
