WHat do you think of Shades of Green Resort?

RE:"As an extra bonus you can watch the MK fireworks from either the roof of the parking garage or from the Magnolia Pool side."

Thanks for this tip

Also they are very good at monitering the hot tub. I think there is a security camera so the over 16 limit is strictly enforced. And they have refridgerators and safes in the rooms!:cool1:

And I believe they have two laundry facilities one in the old section and one in the new. And did I mention the great work-out facilities that is available to all guests at no extra charge?

Just a quick question...how do most of you get to SOG? Do you drive your own car, rent a car, or hire a towncar? I am still debating between POFQ or SOG and the only thing holding me back is the fact that we cannot use DME. We also need to have our luggage transferred to OKW a few days later and the person I spoke with @ SOG said their bell services do not provide luggage transfers. Would the SOG buses that go to the Ticket/Trans. Center let us each bring a small suitcase onboard, and if so, could we do it again on a Disney bus going to OKW?

I have a question here.

I'm staying at the Poly, but will be renting a car for a day excursion to the beach and the rental is through Hertz. I found a Hertz location that is situated at the SOG resort and already made my ressie. I figured it would be easy to just walk from the Poly to SOG and pick up my rental for the day.

My question is, will SOG allow me on property to pick up my rental car? I didn't see no restrictions on the Hertz website or no mention of the military ID check. Hertz themselves, list the SOG as the closest pick up location near the Polynesian. I'm going to be doing some calling around.

We always rent a car because we usually drive to Lady Lake to visit my father. Also we like to drive to the waterparks. I don't see any reason why they would not let you take a small suitcase aboard. Except for first thing in the morning, the bus is usually not to crowded to the TTC. Also they have storage for strollers so they could put the suitcases there if the bus is crowded.

I don't know about Hertz rental. I would call or email SoG and ask about both the rental car and the luggage question.

I understand there is a putting green at SOG. Do you have to bring your own clubs, rent a putter (if only using the putting green), or do they offer free putters?

Stayed at SOG this past may. It's a great hotel The grounds and pool are nice. It is close to MK and you can walk to the Poly for the monorail. we even saw a gator in on of the ponds. That was cool and made my trip. We loved our stay so much. We've already booked our room for May of 08.
Here's a another tip if you miss a SOG bus you can take bus to the Poly resort and it's just short walk back did that twice with no problem.

I had this debate for our stay in Jan this year. We are in SOG's top pay rate, and were going in Disney's lowest priced time. When I factored in ME versus some other transportation to SOG PLUS not being able to purchase the Disney Dining plan it became a no brianer for us to stay at POFQ, and it was a tad cheaper.

However will always weigh the pros and cons of SOG if we visit at another time of the year.

Wouldn't it be nice if Disney would let SOG folks buy theDining package? Nice perk for military plus Disney would get their money's worth I am sure.

I do not know about the putting green. I do know there are two PGA golf courses owned by Disney on either side of SoG. I believe you can get reduced fees at SoG. And I know you can rent clubs because my brother did a few years ago. He said the clubs were better than he expected. I would call SoG for more up to date info.:thumbsup2

My family and I have been there several times/ We are planning on going there again since it was upgraded.
We always have enjoyed our stays there.
SOG is always are first choice.
We are excited about seeing the changes.
