What do you think of Katie Couric?

Not a fan of her show either. But I will say they have her on at the right time of day. Can you imagine watching her royal perkiness at night and then trying to go to sleep? She reminds me of a :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

She's done reports for the evening shows before (Dateline NBC). She is not near as perky.

When faced with tragic events, I very much like her reporting style as she tables the perkiness.

I don't watch any of those type of shows anymore (time, young kids, who needs to wake up and hear about all the awful things going on in the world?).

But when I did--I loved watching the Today show. However, they all seem like talk shows with a sprinkling of news--and when I watch the news, I like watching the news. So I would only watch for the first 30 minutes--maybe an hour...but never the whole show. No CNN or MSNBC -- so that is how I visually catch up on my world/us headlines.

I dont like her either. Even though she seems so perky I have the feeling she could turn on someone in an instant and become devil woman!

Isn't that true about all women especially in here age group, going through the change. I think she is ok, no different then anyone else even though she has big $$$$$$$ :cheer2:

The day after the presidential election she wore a black dress and just glared into the camera all morning.
I thought it was telling. And funny for a variety of reasons.

Oooooooh, this is a politically based celebrity bashing. Well, I'll just disappear and let the right wing have at it.

I felt terrible when her husband died. Then she turned around and got all "New York" on me with her $800 shoes and designer clothes. I liked her earlier in the career when she seemed more "down to earth".

She's not believable anymore.

Spending $800 on shoes when you made MILLIONS is just a drop in the bucket. Sorry Cindy B., but her ratio of spending $$ to her earnings is probably more similiar to your style than you think. Everything is relative. A homeless person would probably not like you for spending "x" amount of dollars on your internet provider each month. If she earns three million a year, $800 is the same as someone making $100,000 a year and buying shoes that cost $30. So who is down to earth then? Don't hate because people are in a different tax bracket than you are. Be happy that you aren't on welfare or homeless.

I never watch Today. Give me Diane Sawyer, Charlie Gibson, Robin Roberts, and Tony Perkins anyday. They all seem to genuinely like each other and they all work so well together. Nothing seems forced at all.

ITA ::yes::

I've always liked her. Met her twice long time ago too, seemed very nice.

Nope, not a Katie Couric fan. There's something about her that I just don't like. I feel bad that she lost her husband and I'm sure she's a very nice lady but everything she does seems so forced and overly perky. I much prefer Diane Sawyer. Plus I just saw Diane on Ellen's show recently and she cracked me up :teeth:

I think I may be leaning towards not liking her after watching the show yesterday. Two women were on, talking about school bullies, and what girls can do to deal with not being in the "in" crowd. (one of the women wrote a book about it). So you have Matt sitting there talking about how brutal school was for him, he was not popular, and was picked on alot. Then the camera pans to Katie, and I am expecting to hear a similar story about how school was terrible for her too, and all she says is her biggest fear is how her daughter fits in with her peers, and it is so hard to watch them grow up.
So, maybe my tortured days of school hit me, but I shook my head and figured Katie must of been one of the "in" crowd. She could of at least made it seem like she was dorky and unpopular like Matt did ( I don't believe for a minute that he was unpopular, but it did make me feel btter to know how far he has come if he truly was picked on). But the fact that she could not add to his story, and just went on to talk about how her daughter does, with a smile on her face, made me think that is so what a popular girl would do. Refuse to admit they were anything less than popular.
LOL, I don't like KC because I think she is a total ditz.

But I think it is odd that you expected her to make up a story for the show. Maybe she was popular in HS, there isn't anything wrong with that. If HS wasn't a horrible experience for her, she shouldn't embellish a story to add interest to the subject. That would be dishonest. JMHO

That's exactly how I feel.

I do watch the Today Show early in the morning most days, and then change it or turn it off.

I just cannot watch Diane Sawyer...the way she talks just annoys the hell out of me.

Today is still the best morning show out there. They always get the best interviews, first, and they appeal to a younger crowd. The other morning shows are mainly aimed at senior citizens.

I'm not a senior citizen and I love GMA.

Maybe you can tell me, where do the hosts hide their walkers when they come out on stage?

I was thinking of writing this thread on Monday after watching her...She is such a silver spooned, hoity toity, spoiled namby paby, PHONEY she makes me gag.

She truly doesn't appreciate the fact that she has achieved fame and financial glory without really having any discernable talent...Of course there are so many of these in our society it is mind numbing.

I used to dislike Matt, while thinking Katie was mildly cutsie, but I now have a modicom of respect for Matt's work and absolutely loathe Ms. Couric.

I agree with you here, poohandwendy. Why should she lie about it? Her daughters are right around that age--I can see why she'd comment about them instead of herself. That would be my first thought as well because I have a daughter that age.

And, I really like Katie Couric.

I watch the Today Show. sometimes she annoys me and I'm not a fan of the clothes she's been wearing lately, but I like her.

Hey, that's almost funny.

Charlie and Diane do have a lot of experience. I think it's a good thing. They have class, are enjoyable and fun to watch. I like how everyone gets along like they're best friends. They are still around because they are so good. But I don't see walkers in their future for quite a while yet.

Katie has always annoyed me. I could never really figure out why. I just didn't watch.
