What do you take into the parks?

Hi,

My girls will be 5 when we go in May. What should I take into the parks with me? I was hoping to take some snacks and bottled water. Is that even allowed? I was also going to get some cheap rain ponchos.

What do you take into the park? What do you use to carry it in?

Do you recommend strollers for 5 yo's?

Thanks!!

:dance3:

Take WetOnes, for their hands and tables at lunch. If you want, you can wipe all the bars, water fountains, etc. but that gets pretty difficult to wipe everything they touch.
Definitely water, as it tastes kinda weird there.
I like to bring my stroller from home. By the end of the day (and we start late), even my 10 year old wants to sit in it. Not that I blame her.......!!!
But I am thinking about renting the doubles for next time- that adds up, though.
We bring snacks. However, we have had the dining plan both times,i.e. way extra food, so we don't eat them.
If you want to make pressed pennies, bring quarters and shiny pennies. My kids LOVE to do this. There are dozens of patterns. And books to put them in!
Bring some Tylenol for the grown-ups. Nothing worse than a headache at a theme park!

Some of this may be obvious, but this is what WE bring into the parks...bottled water, wet wipes, camera, sunscreen, ponchos, adult ibuprofen, sweatpants (gets cool at firework time), light jacket, a few simple snacks (we do the dining plan like PP), stroller, pens for autograph book, kleenex, germ x.

Okay, I may be the only guy who responds to this thread, but I have a suggestion if you take kids (because its something my wife does for me and she says I'm the only kid she has that will never leave home).

The previous posters covered all the major things, but... if you are doing a long day at the park, here is what the wife and I do. We take a bottle of water in for each member of our travel party. In the heat, those don't last long, but there are water fountains around. Some people, including me, either find the water weird, can't drink too much water without flavor, or both.

What we do then, simply, is get some of those single serve kool-aid, gatorade, or crystal light mix ins that are single use for a 16.9 ounce water bottle (does anyone know what I'm talking about?). That way, if the kids don't want water, you aren't paying 4 bucks for a coke every hour when it is hot. A pack of 8 to 10 usually runs 1.99-2.49, and covers us a day at the park. My wife gets the peach tea Crystal Light, I get the sugar free Tropical Punch koolaid stuff.

They come in little tubes, so refill the water bottle and then add in the mix, close the bottle, shake, and bam... kool aid, tea, etc. for one... for about a 1/15 of the price of buying one on park.

It beats packing tons of bottled water and its a way to save money... so you can buy pins... or Stitch-es.

I hope this helps someone... I worry my posts are unhelpful some days (its a Eeyore kind of a day here).

Take care,
J.

Good suggestion! We actually did that last trip. It was great with the only downfall being that our 2 yo had a continuous red mustache!!

We pretty much bring the same things as everyone else including the powder drink addins. We also bring our stroller from home, plus several ziplock bags that are different sizes. We use them for snacks, wet clothes, our camera during water rides, etc. Usually we bring about 6 of them. I am also the queen of trial sizes so we put everything in one bag so I can find it faster. I also put ice in two ziploc bags to help keep the drinks colder for a little bit longer. We replace the ice during breaks or at the restaurants.

We bring two small hand towels to dry hands or use as a wash cloth because the wipes sometimes don't do enough or if you need to wipe something off clothing. Hand towels also are great after the water rides. If they are still dry, we sit on them during the fireworks or parades. Oh, we bring extra clothes for our kids just in case. I put them in one of the larger ziploc bags. Once my son sat on a melting ice pop during a parade. He didn't see it and had it all over his little tushy. The extra clothes came in handy. We also take breaks most days and replace as needed.

We also bring extra batteries. Learned that one the hard way.

I know EXACTLY what you are talking about! We use it when we go to amusement parks, wrestling tournaments, when I fly I take an empty bottle, then fill it up past security, camping, etc. etc. etc. Basically anywhere there's a water fountain. Great tip! (Besides water ... err sugar free lemonade ... is MUCH better for hydration than pop!)

We bring bottled water and flavors to add, rain ponchos, snacks, wipes, uncrustables for lunch. We have never been stopped bringing food in. Last week we brought croissants and cheese.

What do you take into the park? What do you use to carry it in?

Do you recommend strollers for 5 yo's?

Change of clothes for DS
1 bottle of Sunscreen
Camera
Video Camera
Autograph Book & Pen
Small thin blanket for DS to sit on in the rentall stroller, etc
Ponchos (if/after we have bought them at some point on the trip)
Wallets
Cell Phones
small Bottle of purell
pack of wet wipes
We use a small back pack, that we either carry on our back or hang on the stroller.

On strollers in the park, that is a big YES!! It is a TON of walking in the parks.

After a day in the park, I wish I had a stroller to be pushed around in.

My DS is almost 5, and never uses a stroller when we are home. But we will be renting a stroller in Disney for a long long time.
