What do you say to the characters?

I know that all of the characters meet thousands of people a day. When it's your time to talk to them, whether it's at a Meet n Greet or a Character meal...is there anything you say to them or ask them that's out of the ordinary to make their day less boring?

I call Chip and Dale Alvin and Simon. That gets them going

My daughters do tick tock around Capt Hook. He makes Smee run chase them. And would only get his picture taken with me. Made the CM take my camera to do the picture.

I called Donald Daffy and boy did he get his feathers in an uproar :)

Once when my sister and I were having lunch at Crystal Palace, an older woman was sitting by herself across from us, and we couldn't help laughing at the way she talked to the characters. She said to Tigger "oh, I saw your movie, you were great" and to Piglet "you know, you are my favourite, but you look smaller in the books" and things like that. It was so funny to hear.

We say thank you ! there is always a line so I try to get the picture and autograph without taking too long so everyone in line gets a chance. I get very annoyed when 1 child takes way too long with a character.

well you know what you will wait, because we sometimes take longer if a parent in line gets impatient. so there!

On my honeymoon, we ate at the LTT our first night there. And one of the Chipmunks (I want to say Chip, but I don’t remember so good) started to “hit” on my DW. He cuddled up to her and kissed her on the cheek. So I started playing around with him, telling him that I have a chipmunk trap at home and I wasn’t afraid to use it. He started to “cry”, so I apologized and we were buds after that. As sort of a side note, I think Chip and Dale are my two favorite characters because I love the way they interact with the guests.

I usually just say hi to them but that is really funny callung them the wrong name - that is something my finance would do---

Lets see...

One trip while dining at Chef Mickeys Minnie came over to the table. I asked her if Mickey had given her a ring yet- she shook her head no and pointed to her ring finger- I told her that I would talk to Mickey about that when I saw him- ;) Minnie "tells" me to wait one minute and off she skipped- A few second later who does she drag over literally by his "ear" but Mickey himself- I asked Mickey about Minnies ring and he got all flustered while Minnie stood there with her hands on her hips-

My ds loved it! ok...I did too-

Ask Mary Poppins if she can say "supercalafragalistic" backwards- (no clue if I spelled that right ;) )

Ask Sleeping Beauty if there are any spinning wheels around- Tell her she looks pretty in her "pink" dress

and we always tell the characters that we have waited our entire trip to see them- AND we have!

We also ALWAYS let the characters know how very special they are- Bring up some of the movies that they are in- Goofy in the Goofy Movie ect....

and as with the above poster we always tell them thank you! :)

I usually say something really original & profound, like: "Can I get a picture?"
But seriously...you all have such great ideas! I guess I never thought of bringing up Disney movies, etc. Maybe if I had kids, I would have! It must make it more fun to be running around in a hot costume all day. :tigger:

We always make it a point to say Thank you as we leave and have gotten a few extra pats and waves from it.

I like to mess around with Capt. Hook and Mr.Smee. Although there mmy favorite charcers, i like to get them going, always makes other toursits laugh.

That is a good idea, I usually call Dale Chip and vice versa. I'll try that. Donald and Daffy hate eachother too. . .Roger Rabbit anyone?

I saluted Capt Hook, than talked smack about him behind his back to Smee (typical thing among us sailors, bad mouthing the old man). But he didn't care, he was too busy checking out the wife's wedding ring.

And I told Pocahontas I was a Virginian as well, and she seemed to appreciate that, we Commonwealthers never forget our roots.

I asked Figment where Dreamfinder was, and he shrugged to say he didn't know, then I told him I missed the dude.

I asked Pluto if Mickey taught him any tricks, and he sat up, then rolled over and played dead. He loved getting his back scratched, and seemed to want a belly rub, too, but as my sister said, "there is no way I am petting him *there*."

I agree on the thank you and I always include their name. During our trip in August I noticed that my 23 year old son and his girlfriend would always thank them for the picture. Nice manners are always appreciated by everyone, especially Disney characters who probably see a lot of the opposite. Reminds me of a trip a couple of years ago when my daughter and I were the last in line to see Minnie. They used to give the last person in line a balloon to hold. A group of older teenage girls came up and the handler told them we were the last in line and Minnie would be going in. She must have sensed that they were going to try something, because while my daughter and I were having our picture taken with Minnie, the handler told Minnie that after we were through to just run to whereever they go for their break. Sure enough, after Minnie turns to leave, the girls start running towards her and Minnie had to run from them. I don't think we had Minnie's full attention while we visited with her, but my daughter was about 11 and totally understood what was going on, but we just stood there going like one minute we were talking to Minnie Mouse and the next thing she's running away from a group of girls!! We just laughed!!

That's so very nice, considerate and Disney like of you :sunny:

We always say hello, hug, ask for a picture, say thank you and move along. That is about it. I do enjoy watching a bit of interaction with the characters and the guests. My kids have never really been into too much chatting. Except when my 2 year old refused to let go of Chip and I needed Dale to help break the head lock. From that time on, I never pick him up to do a meeting. He has much less leverage from the ground.

My daughter was a bit afraid of Captain Hook - wouldn't pose with him or even hand him her autograph book. So, when she was out of the stroller seeing another character (this was in Epcot's Character connection) he started sifting through the stroller basket looking for treasure. She thought it was hilarious and then asked his greeter to get his autograph for her.

I told Captain Hook that he wouldn't find any treasure - we'd been in Disney for 3 or 4 days at that point and spent it all!

I always give them a hug, tell they are my favorite, get my picture taken and make sure I say thank you! By being enthusiastic, you usually get a little extra interaction which is always fun!!! I love meeting the characters!!!

I have a Tigger flirt with me. Pluto played with my scrunchi and put his ears up in a ponytail. We have always thanked the characters too. Minnie tried to get DS attention but he was too busy eating his ice cream to even look up. DD did ask Mrs. Incredible, ie Elastigirl where Baby Jack-Jack was, she mimed sleeping.

The villains are some of my most favorite characters to see. They are very funny.

We asked Minnie about when her and Mickey were ever going to get married and she just got all sad and pointing her finger at Mickey and he shrugged and ran away! She acted shocked and then ran after him!
I wonder if they'll ever have those two get married like as a show in front of the castle or something?
