What do you receive for a dvc referral?

Hi!

We just became dvc members and read on these boards about a referral bonus if you refer someone to sign up. So the question is, what exactly do you get? Is it money, a pin etc., or extra points (I know - probably wishful thinking on my part, LOL)!

Thanks for the info!

The first issue is that your state has to allow referrals. I know NY does not allow them to pay you so I am not sure of NJ. I think you just receive a few hundred disney dollars depending on the size of the purchase.

We just received our referral certificate today. We had a choice of 200 Disney $$, $200 dollars toward dues or toward more points, or donating to charity. Second referral of the year is $350, and third is $500. But depends on your state.

Uromac,

NJ does allow referrals. A couple from NJ referred us and they received $200 Disney Dollars.

Thanks everyone for the info. My husband is going to call Member Services and add his friend's name as a referral, since we did not do that when we were there. Hopefully, Disney will allow this and he will get something from it!

Thanks again for your neighborly help!:p

Do you only get the $'s if they buy points ? I assume you get nothing if they just take the tour. We refered some friends last October and they are going to buy this October. Can the UK get the gifts ?

Uromac,

A word to the wise...DVC may not be receptive to you giving them a referral name, AFTER you have already visited the DVC office on your own.

Your husband should not call Member Services...he should call your sales rep. Tell your sales rep that you forgot to mention your friend's name when you first visited the DVC office.

We first visited the DVC sales office during a vacation at BW. My DH wasn't completely sold on the idea. A few days later, we met a very nice couple at the pool, and they were DVC members. Honestly, if we had not talked to this couple, we would not have joined. They really sold DH on the idea. It was encouraging to hear positive feedback from current members. They spent over an hour with us explaining the program. We even exchanged names and addresses to keep in touch!

A few weeks later, when we decided to join, I gave the name of the DVC members we had met, and told our sales rep that their input was invaluable. DH needed to hear about the program from a member.

Our sales rep informed me that since we had come into the DVC office on our own, technically we weren't "referred", therefore the couple was not entitled to the $200 reward.

I wrote to our new DVC friends, thanking them for spending time with us, and told them that I had tried to list them as a referral, so that they could be "rewarded" for their time. I told them the response of our sales rep, and apologized for not being able to obtain the "reward" for them.

I received a letter from them a few weeks later with $100 Disney Dollars enclosed. They had contacted their OWN sales rep and said they felt they were entitled to the $200...they had spent a significant amount of time talking to us about the program, and without their input, we would not have joined. DVC finally sent them the reward.

Our new DVC friends were so impressed that we had efforted the reward for them, that they sent us half. Made my day!
