What do you really love about staying at BWV?

I enjoy the long walks in the hall.... I really do.... and it always makes me think of Rich ::yes::

I LOVE the lobby. LOVE IT.

I love the shade of red the siding is...

I love people watching

The bar at the pool is swell.

As is the little bar on the other side of the lobby towards BWI...

I love the General store, spoodles, the bakery, ESPN, and everything else on the Boardwalk.

<------ has yet to do the slide.

I have been to the BW many times in the evening (although never stayed at BWV/BWI), and have yet to see the 'streetmosphere'.

I don't remember at what time the entertainment starts, maybe 8:00 or 9:00?

When we have the GC with us and they hang out at the BW, it's usually spring break or summer. We go by ourselves in the off season and I don't remember seeing as much going on then.

Wow, thanks for all these great responses everyone!

Free video games in the comm. rm? Are you kidding me. I may never see my kids again...

We did pool hop last January to the BW pool, it was one of our favorite days of the whole vacation. We had the whole pool to ourselves! And that slide, omg, I couldn't get enough. They heard me laughing the whole way down.

Anyway, we're going to be there before our four day cruise, then coming back to it afterward for four more days. So I really appreciate your feedback. The community room sounds great, free air hockey? wow, they didn't have that at the BCV. Lovin it. And I can't wait.

8 and later, depending on time of year. One of my favorite things to do, is eat at Big River Grille out side on a Friday or saturday night, esp after IllmNations lets out....

I gotta say, I really dont like the sword swallowing guy. I can just see kids trying to copy him....

Love the piano on wheels guy. Very personable.

We love almost everything about BWV:

The lobby is beautiful and usually there are balloons for the kids.

Don't go in the bakery if you just want to "look"...doesn't work :p

The atmosphere on the boardwalk at night.

Our boys also loved community hall...especially the free video game consoles and the air hockey table.

My DH enjoyed Muscle & Bustle while I enjoyed shopping at the stores.

There truly is something for everyone to enjoy.

Have a great time!

I've stayed at a lot of the resorts, but Boardwalk is the most convenient, by far, because you can actually WALK to two of parks. You can take the boat, too, but walking, especially after Fantasmic and Illuminations, is such a nice option.

Also, the variety of eating places within walking distance is so much more than any of the other resorts. And you can get a hot dog on the Boardwalk for $3. Best hot dog deal in all of Disney.

The drawbacks are that there is no food court, like a the Wilderness Lodge or the other resorts. This only bugs me around breakfast time. To get anything for breakfast that is "low Carb", meaning "not a big old donut or pastry", you have to eat breakfast at Spoodles, which is pretty pricey, and you have to be waited on, so it's not as fast as a food court, and when you are trying to get to the parks early, this is tricky. I always gently complain about this when I'm there, that they need a food court!! I was hoping when they moved the Vacation Club to SSR, they would turn those offices into a food court, but they said they weren't. Bummer.

It's a resort that is a destination/something to see, even if you aren't staying there, because it is really neat and theme-y and it's just fun. I have pts. in SSR and Beach Club, but I've been booking BWV everytime (since I've joined the club in 2003). And while you are staying there, you have a lot of dining choices, so you don't get bored with the same restaraunts.

But, the biggest boost is the closeness to MGM and Epcot. And the buses to AK and MK were very good.

I really love the location!!! I feel I am staying somewhere that is in the heart of Disney, not to mention the easy access to the 2 parks and all the dining options available in the various resorts (Swan, Dolphin, YC, BC, boardwalk restaurants, plus all the EPCOT restaurants). Love the decor and atmostphere of the resort...just all around A+!!!

I guess this is an obvious suggestion, but why not pick up some low carb stuff and keep it in your room for breakfast? To me that's another advantage of DVC resorts--you don't have to worry about wasting time getting food, just open the fridge, grab something and off to the parks! We even bring breakfast shakes for my kids who don't always feel like eating solid food first thing in the morning.

I fly to Orlando and don't rent a car, but most towncars (including Tiffany, the one I use) will make a grocery stop at no extra charge. I really like having all of my family's favorite foods right there handy. It seems more like home when I have the brands and food choices we are used to. (of course this comment applies to all the DVC resorts, not just BWV).:drinking1 :cool1:

So far we have stayed at BCV, BWV, WLV & SSR.

We have decided that for the forseeable future, we want to only stay at BCV & BWV.

We stayed at BWI quite a few times before joining DVC, and if our financial future remains positive (fingers crossed) we would like to buy a resale at BWV. I think we may even like it better than our "home" at BCV.

Even while staying at BCV, we walk over to The Bakery in the mornings for breakfast. I love sitting on the boardwalk in the mornings.

Have a great time!

the BW generally starts a little before Epcot closes - and really starts after Epcot has closed.

So if you are think of using WDW buses to either Epcot or Studio - forget it - either drive over to BW - or be prepared to take the long bus drive to DD.

I own here and I have never really done the BW.....

Okay I am generally traveling with my mother to old to appreciate it or my niece who was too young to enjoy it....

she is now a teenagers - still can't take her to bars - but she might enjoy the night time atmosphere now.

Or I need to go by myself!!! now that is a good solution.

I did bring some breakfast bars to BWV this time (Sept. 04), and it did work out well. But, if you are "new" to the place, you might be counting on the food court, and it's not there. It took me 3 times to stay at the Boardwalk to figure out I should bring my own stuff, mostly because part of the fun for me going to WDW is I leave the cooking/meal choices to someone else!:sunny:

I had gotten used to the food courts staying at other resorts, and I was surprised when BWV didn't have one, so I just wanted to let any newbies know about it, so that it wasn't a disappointment or a let down.

I LOVE the BWV for so many other reasons. One thing about the resorts, for me anyway, there's always something that's a drawback. For Wilderness Lodge, it was the transportation. I haven't stayed anywhere else yet, cuz I'm new to the vacation club, but everytime I go, I learn something new!

Once again, thanks a bunch everybody! These are really great. About the breakfast thing...since we're staying at the BW, going on the cruise, then back to the BW, can we buy cereal before arrival, then take an opened cereal bag onto the ship then back to the BW? I know, ask the cruise forum, lol, but maybe someone here will know. I hope I can, since the cereal bags(I'll take them out of their boxes) will go to waste. Thanks.

No need to bring your own low carb items if you don't mind walking over to the Dolphin Resort. Give Tubbi's Buffeteria a try - it's a cross between a cafeteria and a food court and IIRC, open 24 hours.

You can get some low-carb items at Tubbi's (eggs, breakfast meats, etc.), as well as Starbuck's coffee. They also have Krispy Kreme donuts, but of course low-carb'rs aren't usually looking for those! :teeth:

Best wishes -

Thanks for the Tubbi's suggestion. For some reason, I never even think about going over to Dolphin/Swan for chow.

So, there is a food court in the near vicinity! See, I learn something new everyday! I just love these boards. I think I know WDW, but I'm finding out how much I DON'T know--keeps me humble!

Maybe a little off topic, but is there a food court at Beach Club or Yacht Club? Thanks:3dglasses

No food court at BC/YC. Thats one thing I really missed last January. But we just adjusted and ate at the parks for a quick supper, no biggie.

Forgot to mention that you also get a 20% discount with your DVC membership! It's good for all the restaurants in the Swan/Dolphin resorts except Shula's. Nice bonus, huh?

CarolMN,

Is the discount good for FRESH as well? I was just looking at that this morning and didn't see it listed.

you can also get breakfast - at Cape May Cafe at the BC - it is a character meal - but the breakfast is very good.

they is a grocery/gift shop on the BW - that is really close to BWV and you get enough for breakfast here. - they have those bowls instead of opening a box of ceral.

of course there is always my favorite at BWV - ROOM SERVICE!!!!

No, I do not believe that you can bring any food off the ship. You can leave it in your car, but then you might get ants. Or you could just throw it away and buy a new box at the General Store.
