What do you pray about? Do you ask for specific things?

IF you pray, what do your prayers include? A recent poster said they prayed every day for Obama to lose the Presidential election. My prayers are not usually that specific nor do I make those kinds of requests. I try to keep mine limited to what I believe to be in God's hands and for the other things, I pray for guideance and wisdom. Imho, certain things are left to us and certain things are in the hands of a higher power. The election seems to be one of those things that is left to us, therefore I would not pray about it. Just my take on the whole thing. What's yours?

I pray for the safety of my family, and most frequently for the safety of my husband in Iraq. Other than that, I guess my prayers are mostly an expression of trust and acceptance.

I pray for acceptance. I do the work to change things, or I open myself up to others for relationships, but when things fall apart, or they don't go as I wish, I pray for acceptance of His will.

Sometimes I'll ask for specific things, more so in the past than the present, but I've found that it's a fine line between asking and demanding like a spoiled child, which turns the relationship upside down.

God cannot be influenced through prayer or ritual; only humans can be. Prayer, therefore, are pleas and commitments we make to ourselves, to our community, and to humanity. Prayers are pleas and commitments for freedom; for protection of living things and the environment; for reason; for understanding; for acceptance; for peace.

I pray for patience and understanding and the strength to handle the things life may throw at me.

I don't believe anything is off limits in prayer. I pray for big things (wisdom, or healing of a sick person) and little things (help me find my cell phone). I talk to God like I would a friend.

In terms of the election, instead of praying for a specific candidate to win, I pray for God's will to be done...which might not be the same thing as asking for McCain to win.

I pray for my familIy and friends. I pray for understanding for his will. I pray for the country. I believe that nothing is to big or too little for God. I really just talk to God like I would a best friend.

My prayers start with thanks and praise. Then moves towards blessing family, friends, church, others and self.

I pray for His guidance in my life. I pray for the safety and good health of my family. If a family member is having a particular problem in his/her life, I pray that He will guide them to the answer. I have prayed for each of my children to be guided to good choices (I have also told my teens everyday to "make good choices").

If I was to pray about something like the presidental election it would be that the American people be guided to vote His will, not for a particular candidate.

I give thanks for the health/safety of my family
pray for our leaders guidance(whomever they be)
pray for protection of our nation from those who would do us harm.
pray for a return of prosperity for our nation.

I pray for guidance - and I pray for others who have a need.. I never "ask" for anything other than guidance..

I pray for the health and safety of those I love, I have a prayer list of people who are sick either physically or emotinally. I pray for guidance and the ability to perceive God's will for my life. Actually, I speak to God throughout the day. He is the source of strength in my life.:goodvibes
