What do you not like about your favorite Moderate?

We (myself, dh, dd8 and dd4) are still trying to decide which Moderate to book for our Oct 9th - Oct 16th trip. We've been to Disney before, but stayed at the Swan whereas it was combined with business trips. This is the first time we are staying in a Disney owned resort. I've scanned the threads about what everyone loves about their favorite moderate, but what are some of the things you don't like about your favorite moderate? Thanks!!!

I've only stayed at one moderate, and the things I don't like about it are pretty much present at all the moderates! :)

I don't like the price, and I don't like exterior corridors!

I also don't much care for the way everything is spread out so vastly. It's a pain in the butt to tredge the 5-10 minute walk to get a beverage or a snack. That problem is reduced somewhat at the French Quarter, because it's a smaller moderate.

But other than those things, I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at the French Quarter. The staff was beyond helpful, we had a gorgeous view of the Sassagoula River, the room was spotlessly clean, and the grounds were well manicured and beautiful - despite the lack of greenery because it was a particularly cold January.

I've only stayed at one moderate -- CBR. While my overall impression was quite positive, dh and I quickly decided only deluxe after that one trip. Things I did NOT like:
1. Long line at check-in
2. Paid extra for a water view/preferred location -- no view of water and a LONG way from EVERYTHING
3. Crowded buses with multiple stops -- standing room only, many times
4. Small pool
5. Poor quality food
This sounds so negative; but, with the exception of the extra I paid for view, I felt as if I got my money's worth. CBR is so central to all in the World!

I've only stayed at one moderate because there is only one that can accommdate a family of 5--- POR. I really think this is a fabulous resort, offerting a ton of amenities. I like to think of it as deluxe light! Carriage rides, campfires, bikes, a boat ride to downtown disney, a marvelous main pool, a sit down restaurant, a bar with evenning entertainment, a pretty darned good food court! The bus service was spotty, so as the week wore on we took our car more and more and that worked out well for us. But, if I had to complain, it would be that the resort was designed for relaxing, winding pathways that can be disorienting at times and for many buildings VERY VERY inconvenient to the parking lots. This can be a problem if you have little guys. Keep in mind, too, that if you don't have kids the Alligator Bayou section is the ONLY section of any moderate on the entire property that can accommodate families of 5, so you are likely to run into lots of children. Maybe the mansion section would be better for your romantic getaway. We were in building 17 near the quiet pool and laundry and it was pretty convenient overall.

We've stayed at POR twice and CBR. Loved both of them, especially POR.

I'd have to agree that the downsides to the moderates are how big they are. We walked FOREVER to get to the food court at CBR. It was so far that we thought about taking the bus after that!

That's it! Our only "complaint", other than that we were in heaven. You'll love it no matter which you choose, and you can always try out others on later trips! :earboy2:

We have stayed at 3 moderates, CBR, POR, CSR. Out of these, POR is our favorite. The themeing at CBR wasn't for me...I love the carribean, but would rather be there via a cruise ship :rotfl:
CSR was extremely spread out. We had a 5 month old at the time. I can't remember what building we were in, but it was closer to the pool...but still a hike. And it was definately a hike to the main building and food. We hated to take the stroller everywhere for our son.
POR is spreadout, as well..but not nearly as much. I son was almost 3 and 3 years 4 months when we were there and from where we stayed the 2nd time (Acadian House) to the food court was a perfect walk for him (he loves going for walks). It was about the same walk to the pool, too. POR is our moderate choice...but we are hoping to move up to wilderness for our next trip :wizard:

I love POFQ and CBR equally.

What I don't like about POFQ is that they closed Bonfamilles (one of my all-time favorite WDW restaurants), and there is no sit-down restaurant. You can certainly walk over to Boatwrights at POR (and we do), but it is not the same.

What I don't like about CBR is Shutters. Food was just okay and not a great value for the prices.

I like CSR as a moderate. I think it is a pretty resort (especially at night) with themeing completely unlike anything I usually see, since I live in New England. The one thing I don't like about it is the food court and the way they charge you 10% on your food for "service". Basically the "service" consists of brining you to your table and brining you a soda.

I'd be happy to find my own table and soda and save the 10%.

The bus transportation in general (for POFQ). I loved POFQ with the acceptance that it was a moderate (I am a deluxe junkie). I thought it was deluxe light (good term). Wonderful place! However, I missed the boats and monorail systems of transportation. It still felt inconvenient to get to the parks after being used to deluxe hotels. I'd have to say the primary reason for staying in a deluxe would be for the easy park access. There's just no comparison.

But I do LOVE POFQ.

My favorite is PO-FQ, and my only complaint is that they closed the full service restaurant there and we aren' fond of the full service at PO-R, which actually serves both.

That is really a minor point, as we usually eat at the parks or the deluxe resorts anyway.

I do love CBR, it's so beautiful and I love the people that work there. Make sure you look at a map for whatever resort you stay at and stay close to the main pool/food area.

The negative of CBR one little tiny hot tub. But rooms were recently renovated!

Sharing the bus is my only complaint. Otherwise no complaints about POFQ. I was ggrateful we were staying on the FQ side. I felt bad for those staying at POR as it was standing room only for them most of our visit.

My favorite is CSR and the only thing I don't like is the added 10% at Pepper Market. Only once did we get service that really warranted it and then we tipped extra.

Not really a complaint- but an idea.
I think for POR or FQ a character meal at the resort would be super cool!

For CBR- wouldn't it be great if you could rent a golf cart for your stay???

A sit down restaurant at FQ-the wait for a boat to go to POR could be long sometimes- or the boat was full.

But other than that- my fav was Port Orleans French Quarter and I LOVED it!!

I can't stand that POFQ won't let us stay there for free.
Other than that, their own sitdown restaurant would be nice, expecially if it was all spicier than Boatwrights Cajun/New Orleans food.

PO-Riverside is my favorite, and the only things I really don't like are that loooong walk back to the room at the end of the day, and when you have to share busses with POFQ. Everything else makes up for it, though!
