Riding in the back of pick-up trucks
We always rode in the back of the trucks. I remember bringing lunch to the guys in the grain fields (MN), looking for asperagus
Baked goods and caramel apples in our halloween trick or treating haul
My mom used to make popcorn balls to give out, I was born in '72 so it doesn't seem so long agocan't do that now
I so could have wrote this post! (except for the year

And yes, I loved the neighbor lady who gave fresh caramel apples for Halloween.
We would drive to Grandma's house, about 40 minutes away, and my five brothers & sisters and I would ride in the back of the pick-up. On the way home, for a special treat, we'd stop at DQ and we'd each get a small vanilla cone. If we asked for anything more, we'd get nothing, so we were thrilled with the cone!! We'd have to eat it quickly or the wind would blow the dripping ice cream all over.
Sometimes I think my kids are so spoiled but other times I think they are missing out on so much!

can't do that now

That is honestly one of my favorite memories, going thru the catalogs. Oh, and when the JCP Christmas catalog came out, that was a real cause for celebration.
years later, that same kind of mindset made an italian restaurant in the bay area popular with their well drinks going for a single at $1, a double for $2 and a triple for $3
