What are your favorite things about BWV?

What drives you crazy???

Thanks,

Cindy :cheer2:

Love, location, BW, Food, Valet, Room Service, View, Pool, Workout area, lobby.

Hate, leaving.

What do I love about BW? The water view, seeing people on the boardwalk, the way the resort is decorated at Christmas, the lobby decorations, the bell choir performing at Christmas, the nearness to Epcot and MGM, the BW-BC complex.

What don't I like about BW? The lack of a family restaurant, the Atlantic Dance Hall(what a waste!), in fact, all the restaurants. No place to refill the refillable mugs. pixiedust:

Hmmm....

Things my family loves:
Location
Std view points
Air hockey at Community hall
"centered" between Epcot and MGM
Elephants at pool
Boardwalk view rooms
Interior decoration of rooms...beautiful!!!
Master bedroom closet....it's HUGE!!

Things my family dislikes:
busy-ness of resort...this place is "hopping" all the time
No amenities inside hotel (not exactly true..there is room service and a gift shop). Having to go outside the hotel to get groceries.
Size of the resort (it feels huge to us)
Parking....really, not good
Being up, away from the water....being on the boardwalk, it felt very much like a "look, but don't touch" policy...like a teaser
For us, the Boardwalk was "not all it was cracked up to be." It was nice, but it didn't "blow us away."
Scary clown

JMHO,

I love it! It's our home resort.

I do wish it had some sort of food court and it was a tad easier to book on short notice.

Like the location near Epcot and the decor.

Don't like the lack of landscaping, the parking situation, the endless hallways, or the transportation to the parks.

Only one thing I dislike, the difficulty of filling up your mugs. This could easily be solved. The store right by the elevators could have fountain drinks available. This would be an easy change, doesn't take up much room, and is nicely located.

What's wrong with Atlantic Dance Hall? I've never been there.

Wow! Where to begin?

It's that whole East-Caost West-Coast Dance thing! BTW Broklyn, top of the food chain, Yo!

If you wear the wrong color clothes, or scarf into the Dance Hall on a westcoast or east coast night you can really get messed up! Once there was a refillable mug rumble, and it was a sticky mess. Another time there was a Westcoaster who got dragged out by some Eastcoasters, and manhandled into It's a Small World, and tied to a boat for 4 straight hours of that attraction. (His therapist, hopes in another year of therapy, he stop humming THAT song....)

And don't even askabout Jelly Rolls, oh the humanity, the humanity!

I'll see if I can find some links to the threads on the ADH history for you!

Hope this helps!

I really like the standard view point option.

I really hate getting surprised to find that it's pouring cats and dogs and all I did was go to the Screen Door for something quick but I have to either wait until the rain ends or get soaked going back to my room.

I have toured the resort and rooms and the resort is beautiful BUT I dont lke the rooms I think they need renovating. I dont like seeing the Swan hotel. I think the Clown in the main pool is freaky and scary. I like the look of the Boarewalk bakery. I like the Boardwalk area, and location and atmosphere.

Love: Location, location, location - we love being able to walk to Epcot and MGM. The standard view option. The theming.

Dislike: Lack of a restaurant or food court off of the Boardwalk. Parking so far away. The creepy clown at the main pool (I've never been a clown lover), I'm glad I'm not alone in this Magicmouse2!

Love: walking to Epcot (can also get this at BCV), standard view room availablity, Boardwalk view room availability, Keister Coaster (my kids like this slide a lot), the closeness of the Boardwalk Bakery and Flying Fish. Boardwalk entertainment.

Enjoy, but you can get similar experiences other places: pool in general, pool bar, rocking chairs on the front porch (at VWL its the fireplaces, at BCV its the beach, etc), interior hallways, availability of room service, availability of valet, Bellevue room

Not overly fond of: theming (the clown is overkill), decor (much perfer VWL). Boardwalk games, lack of "fast food."

Disadvantages to others, neutral to us: Bus transportation has been reportedly weak - we had great buses last trip, the trip before left something to be desired, and I think if you take buses, it will never be perfect. Long hallways - we've had longer hallways at AKL and WL (not the Villas) than we've ever had at BW, but its brought up enough that it could be an issue.

I like that you can walk to Epcot WS, but hate that I can't enter the front of Epcot. I guess the location is okay, but I'm not enamoured with the rooms or layout or hotel type atmosphere.

Love:
1) Location -- can walk to EPCOT or MGM
2) Community Hall - *free* video games, ping pong, foosball, crafts, and Video/DVD rentals
3) Pool -- ok....realizing this is coming from a Mom's POV, but the kids like that it has a water slide and I like the size.....big enough to accomodate the guests most days, but not so big that you can't find a vantage point to keep an eye on all the kids
4) Standard View -- enables us to extend the length of our vacations!
5) Boardwalk -- impromptu entertainment for those low-key evenings

Dislike:
1) Parking situation is not ideal--really only a problem when bring back numerous bags of groceries though--long walk from the car.....could valet park and get bell services assistance, but then I feel compelled to provide $20 in tips for those little plastic grocery bags that each contain only 2-3 items
2) Lack of a food court type resaurant

Like the ambiance & the feeling of nostalgia. The boardwalk is cute. The keister coaster.

What I dislike....room service dishes in the halls and the long long long long walk to the elevator, the funky smells.

I wish all of the DVC resorts had a drink station for refillable mugs like Vero Beach. They have water to rinse out your mug and then you just refill it right at the counter service food area at the pool. Seems like all of the resorts could do this.

We have NOT stayed in the villa's only the hotel, but we LOVE the location. It is wonderful walking to Epcot.
On down side, I would have to agree with many posters here, the food selection on boardwalk is okay. The pizza is ok, the bakery is ok, ESPN, has pretty good food. But I agree with a previous poster, they need a food court, or at least a family style food place.
I LOVE beaches and cream, Cape May, Yauchtsmen Steakhouse, but I think the boardwalk while it is nice to stroll along, and it looks beautiful at night, there isn't enough to it.

The Dolphin (close to the BWV) has a cafeteria called Tubbi's that is open 24 hours and is a good option for lunch(DVC members get 20% off there). That is where we are planning to go with the kids in June when we are there. I didn't know about this place on my first two visits to BWVs.
