Ok so now that I have been away from WDW since January I am being to miss it! So I was wondering what everyone does in between trips. I think that I am missing it so much because as of right now we have NO plans for returning. I know we will not go for at least the next year and that thought is just no fun!

.... so what do you do to avoid missing WDW? or to keep your mind preoccupied?

(I think the 10 inches of sudden snow REALLY added to this.)

Spend a lot of time here on the DIS and read peoples trip reports. I love to see everyone elses photos of the fun times they have while at WDW. And it really does help me.

Plus, me and DH talk a lot about what we are going to do the next time we go.

We just got back from VWL a week ago. Sadly, though, we are planning on not getting back to WDW until 20-24 months from now!! :sad1:

I am actually considering a self-imposed sabbatical from the DISboards. I love reading the boards. Sometimes, though, I almost feel like if I don't have a trip to plan in the next year or so it is crual and unusual punishment!!

I am sure I won't stay away completely, though. I enjoy reading about the goings on at WDW and DVC and thinking about where our next trip will be!

When I get to missing it, I'll wear a Disney shirt that day, but I'm retired so I don't have to worry about dressing appropriately for work.

Also if I knew it would be over 12 months before my next Disney vacation, I would plan a road trip to a National Park or some other NPS property. Or a vacation to nearby lake or other recreational area even if it's just for a few days. Everyone needs a break from the grind and it gives you something to look forward too.

And if smaller trips are not in budget, then I'd plan trips to see the sites in my own city, the zoo, a museum, breakfast in the park, concerts in the park. Who knows maybe you could see one of the Disney theatre productions; Beauty and the Beast, Mary Poppins or the Lion King or maybe Disney on Ice.

Everyone needs something to look forward to and then before you know it the 11 month mark will be just around the corner for your next Disney vacation.

Same here! And I really like the idea of wearing a Disney shirt when you're "homesick". Actually, KateB, you really have my sympathy. I can't bear to leave WDW unless I know when "next time" will be. Right now I'm struggling with a year between WDW trips-the longest time between trips I've had in about 15 years.

I Youtube the rides and IM my wife about it send her little audio quotes helps get her thru her day as well. Sounds crazy but we reminisce
about past and future trips. Spend plenty of time here onthe Dis probably same as everyone else. Shawnpirate:

Just recently my friend, at age 38, passed away due to cancer. The funeral is tomorrow. :sad2: Her husband said that their WDW and DCL trip they took last year was so important to them in this 9 year long battle to fight her cancer. He said they were so glad they didn't keep putting it off.

Then I found out that my daughter's friend has bone cancer in her knee! Plus, my brother in law is on the verge of divorce and he often calls us to vent.

So, the only thing getting me through all of this right now is prayer, prayer, prayer and WDW!!!! We are just 3 months away from this trip and it is all I think about these days. Right now, I am planning our dining reservations, and pretty soon I get to start shopping for clothes, and booking cruise activities.

I just think how fortunate I am to have my wonderful husband, my precious 2 children and a fabulous trip to look forward to. And thank you to my DIS friends out there for tips, support and inspiration!
