When you're stuck in traffic in a snowstorm? :confused3 I'm watching the news and it just showed a highway in Missouri that's at a halt because of the snow. What if you're really hungry? :confused3 Do you have to sleep in your car? :confused3 What if you run out of gas? :confused3 What IF you have to go to the bathroom? :confused3 :confused3

I do. What if it happens to you? :confused3 Oh, wait, I forgot I'm talking to MissIlivewhereitneversnows.

Yikes! Was it actually storming? I don't think there are any storms going through here today. And the roads should be fairly clear by now. I wonder if there was an accident. And yes, that would completely suck.

Well to answer your questions as I have been stuck in a snowstorm....

I would phone a friend
I always have crackers in my car as I have low blood sugar
I would never be able to sleep in my car
If I run out of gas, it doesn't really matter because I am obviously not going anywhere anyway
I'm not too proud to cop a squat next to my car

:teeth:

Well, I thought they said Missouri. :confused3 They said there is a state of emergency.

But what happens when traffic starts moving again and you have no gas? :confused3

And you don't care if you grow icicles in front of hundreds of motorists?

Green is not a good color on you. Did I mention it was 73 degrees here yesterday. :sunny: :rolleyes1

Had it happen with an ice storm actually. They ended up closing the road and I was stuck in the same spot for about an hour before traffic actually started to move again. Moving wasn't the best idea at all, because there was literally black ice EVERYWHERE. No braking ability, no accelerating ability... it was like playing bumper cars with real cars. What a nightmare. A gas/oil tanker actually jackknifed directly in front of me on a bridge, and I witnessed it take about 4-5 cars with it.

Sorry, wasn't trying to be argumentative as it doesn't really matter where it is. I was more curious. Maybe it was an old shot. The storm was really bad yesterday and it think went through almost the whole state. Today we're just dealing with the after effects and A LOT of people are without power. But at least most of the roads are cleared. And thankfully we have power. But they expect more outages due to the ice still being able to break power lines.

OMG, I'd be terrified.

No, I didn't think you were being argumentative. I just second guessed myself and thought maybe it wasn't Missouri, that I didn't hear it right.

You keep a blanket in your car, with gloves and a hat. I keep some granola bars. You have a coffe can filled with cat liter in your trunk and a candle. You pee in the snow behind your car. You get to know the people around you as they are your best friends for the next couple of hours! You dont run your car that much and use the blanket to stay warm. Its not fun but living in MI it does happen about 1x every 5 years.

Well, I hate to point out the obvious here....it's not like snowstorms just appear out of nowhere. We usually have plenty of warning, right after you run to the store and buy milk, eggs and bread GET GAS :teeth: and no, I could care less if hundreds of motorists see me tinkle, what do you think they're going to be doing?

I was once stuck for 12 hours on the highway during a freak April Snowstorm in NJ. I was on a commuter bus with a bathroom....so that answers that question. Although it did get bad. However people stuck in their cars, just went outside.

If you are hungry you just deal with it...however i felt bad for a baby who was on the bus!

You have to shut the car off, so you dont run out of gas.

It stinks!!!!! :confused3

You have water, food, flashlight and batteries, a book and maybe even a battery powered radio in your car. Also a wool blanket. Wool is warm even when wet, or so I'm told, and make sure it's big enough to provide privacy if needed.
Thank heavens I've never had to use all that, but it's what's in my car in the winter.

I remember years back that we had a huge storm and people were parking there cars on the road...yes, in the middle of the road and walking home...

I'll bet your bus did.

I guess maybe I should keep these items in my truck in the winter? Hmmm, never thought about it before.

Well since I moved from Ny to Az five years ago I haven't had to worry about snow, but....
I can get pretty cozy in my minivan, so my family of four could just take a nap comfortably.
As far as food, there are enough stale french fries and poptarts on the floor to feed us for a few weeks.
I wouldn't have too much of a problem squatting next to the van if I needed to pee, 7yr. old Dd may not like that though, Dh would likely welcome the opportunity...
Running out of gas, hmmmm don't know about that one, I suppose I would cross my fingers and hope for the best.
