What do you do with your Backpack when you ride the rides?

as it will be just me and my wife and we will both probably have a backpack what do we do with it when we ride?

I guess it depends a bit how big it is. Anytime we've had a backpack, though, my husband or I just put it by our feet for the ride. In the case of roller coasters, I loop the straps around my legs. Never had a problem with it. =)

Great didnt know if they allowed you to carry it on with you or not. thanks!

I just carry it on the ride as well - having said that I do pack light for MGM as I would not want a big pack to deal with on RNR

cheers

I put mine in the ride with me and hold on! :teeth: When I rode Space Mountain, I had this fear as we took off that my bag was going to fall out! I just pushed it against my feet and hoped for the best. It stayed right where it was.

Just please, please remember that when you are wearing your backpack that it sticks out quite a ways behind you. When you are standing in line, a holding area or on a crowded bus where people are standing close together - don't swing around to look at something or talk to someone without thinking about what your backpack will hit. I know that most of the backpacks that have slammed me in the face probably belong to perfectly nice people that just never thought about it ... Another idea, is when you are in a crowded space like that, just take it off and hold it in your hand.

Thanks,

I do own a big backpack and I did carry it around with me at the parks. I had no problem putting it around my ankles on any of the rides.

While true, some also stand a little too close. In lines, there's no need to be smushing forward. With the smells of people in the summer in Florida, I dont get close enough to even reach a backpack.

About where to put it..........you can put it at your feet on nearly EVERY ride. Like someone else said. on RnRc, I just wrap it around my feet (put the straps around my legs). very few Disney rides are bad to where you would even have to worry about it.

On TOT I just put it on my lap after the bar goes down. Thing is........it doesnt go anywhere even if you dont hold it. It just floats in front of you.

Yes, there are certainly those who stand too close in line. Since backpacks are usually at my face height (I'm short), I try and give them as much space as possible - the problem is usally when people in a group shift around. ie. I was behing a DW sans backpack, something happens with DS and she swaps places with DH who backs up with his humongous backpack right into me. I can't back up since there are folks too close behind me and I keep getting smacked by said backpack! Buses and holding pens are the worst. I have even had people squeeze ahead of us in holding pens (I guess they don't know there are plenty of seats inside?) with their backpacks on and there I am getting hit with the things again. Since they usually don't notice, I assume that they can't feel that the backpack is hitting something. When it is really bad, I will politely call their attention to it. Most of the time this is all it takes - but sometimes people are really rude and obnoxious about it as if its all my fault and I have somehow insulted them. :confused3

Anyway - I am not accusing anyone here - just since I suspect that most "offenders" really haven't thought about how far their backpack sticks out behind them, I wanted to call attention to it.

Thanks for "listening"

For the last 5 years, I've switched to using a fanny pack at all theme parks. It has worked SO much better than a backpack...smaller, lighter, easier to access, less bulky, etc. Best of all, you don't have to take it off for rides. Sometimes you have to slide it around to your hip, but that's it...EASY! Just travel lightly & you're good. I just take sunglasses, small camera, money, credit card, ID, my ticket, my day's plan, pain reliever & maybe some hand sanitizer. I've never missed anything I left behind! I've even used it when going to the parks with our two young children (3 & 9 months)...then we need 2 fanny packs...one for me & one for my husband...one has a couple diapers, a ziploc with wipes, ziploc with formula, small bottle, and a ziploc with some snacks. Amazingly, it all fits! Try it!

Nikkie uses a small backpack purse (with Winnie the Pooh on it, natch pooh: ) and I have a small camera bag that holds both my compact camcorder and digital camera. We've never had a problem stowing our stuff. Rock 'n Roller Coaster's footwell is pretty large, so if you just loop the strap around you it usually is no problem.

FYI, for those of you that will be going to Universal or IoA while at Disney...they require you to put your backpack (even a fanny pack!!!! ) into a locker while riding quite a few of their bigger rides. It's quite a pain! :crazy2: They're free for a while, but then they start charging. Also, it's super-crowded trying to get your things in and out.... :crowded: I love Universal, but it's just another little thing that keeps me going back to WDW!!! pixiedust:

On a lot of the rides, I keep my backpack in my lap. (it's a fairly small backpack)
