Hello all,

We have a 5:40pm flight from LGB. So we have some time to kill during the day. We are staying at the Hojo, and I was just wondering what people do before they go home. In the past we have gone to the park, but the kids get upset, so we want to not do that this time. Any suggestions?

Thanks,

We take the 2:30 flight out of LGB so that leaves us a little less time. We check out of the GCV, I take about 1,000 more photos, cry, and then we'll eat at Storyteller's (last character seating) before heading to the airport. I'd save any hotel character meals or DTD time for the day you leave.

We check out of the hotel and hit the parks one last time - letting the kids each pick a couple favorite rides to do again.

If we weren't doing the parks, I'd probably leave off souvenir shopping for the kids until that day instead. Hit the outlet in Fullerton and then hit DTD.

We checked out, left our bags with bell check had breakfast and hit the parks for the last time. We had a 7:25pm flight so it gave us a decent amount of time in the parks.

We tried to set the kids expectations from the start what our "agenda" would be and there were no tears from the 4 or 7 year old as they knew that was it. We then picked up our bags, hopped the shuttle and went to the airport.

How old are your kids? We just got back and our flight home didn't leave until 7PM from SNA, so we had a lot of time to kill.

You could do a leisurely breakfast at Storyteller's. That was a lot of fun--my girls loved it.

We then went into DCA and rode Soarin' and Little Mermaid, then Tower of Terror since California Screamin' wasn't open as predicted. We went over to see Turtle Talk with Crush and ended up having lunch over across from the swings.

Since you don't want to go back in the parks, that last part about DCA won't apply, but thought I'd mention that it's a good place to do some things besides ride rides. Seeing Aladdin might be a good option, and the Animation place, zooetrope, turtle talk etc part is interesting. As far as I know, Muppet 3D is still open and that's a fun thing.

But outside of the parks, there is a movie theater in DTD and lots of shopping. If you have girls, they might like Disney 365, where they do your hair with sparkles and stuff. If you have boys, there is the Riderz or something like that where they can build a remote control car. Pricey, though! There is also the leggo store and, of course, Build-a-Bear. I can't get out of that one.

Another idea is lunch at Rainforest in DTD.

That's about all I know since I never have a car and don't leave the property!

We planned our trip thinking our flight out was at 10am on last day, but two weeks before we leave we just double checked and realise the flight is 10pm NOT 10am, so we have a whole extra day we didn't plan on! Great! Its our first trip so will probably have a day in the parks for our last day, get good and tired and then sleep on our l o n g flight home to New Zealand! So excited to find we have an extra day!

we have a 9.30pm flight out of LAX so we plan to get up around 8am for 9am MM on our last day, check out & store our luggage with bell services, ride as many rides as we possibly can/shop/take a million photos etc, have lunch, buy any last souvenirs, take more photos, ride our favorite rides one last time, then have an early dinner around 5ish before collecting our bags and boarding the shuttle & heading off to the airport for the next part of our trip...

I always save shopping for the last day. My son gets to pick ONE item to buy, so that is the day we do it. Often we can pick it up in Downtown Disney and enjoy lunch. If we have enough time, we grab a quick movie there as well.

Our flight was 5:40 from John Wayne Airport. We went to DCA from opening until around 3pm and then took shuttle back to HOJO, they were storing our bags and caught a cab to the airport. While in the park we had a late lunch at Arial's Grotto, we also walked through Grand Californian and over to Downtown Disney for awhile.

we were planning on doing DL one last time, but our flight has been moved forward from 21:30 to 18:30 so instead we were planning to have lunch in Anaheim somewhere and then get as close to LAX as we can (we haven't experienced LA traffic yet so we are planning in 'safe mode' as we don't want to miss our transatlantic flight back home...although I would prefer to stay stateside!), perhaps Venice Beach and Marina del Rey, they seem close enough places to LAX that offer stuff to do/see.
Glad I saw this thread as I'm now going to add a last minute trip to DTD before we head for the coastline near LAX!

We always do the park. Everyone gets to choose their 2 favorites and we do those no matter what the lines look like and no matter what park they are in.

Since you are staying at HoJo and avoiding the park, how about doing the water park area on the last day? They can play until they can't stand it anymore. Then I'd do lunch or dinner at DTD. You could also fit some shopping in there if you wanted. I hate shopping with the kids though.

No flights for us, but we usually leave around 2pm so that we are home by midnight. Our last day is usually spent riding our favorite rides as many times as we can fit in, a little bit of shopping and we top it off with the 12:40(?) Aladdin show. Then we say goodbye and begin our drive home. We used to have tears too, but we have now been enough times we all KNOW we will be back soon.

Our flight back is on Thursday Nov 3 at 4pm from LAX . The park wont open until 10 am that morning!! But I still want to hit the park at least for 2-3 hours.

IDK the traffic situation from Disney to LAX at that hour (1pm). Can anyone with experience tell me how much transit time to the airport do I need to plan for? We have a rental car so we will be driving back to the car return terminal then take the shuttle to the terminal.

Our flights back to new zealand are always around 8pm so this happens to us every trip, when we go in january our flight is 11pm! Usually we have a lie in, check out, store our luggage then hit DTD, have a nice meal, and do all the shops again. This time however we will definitely be hitting the parks for another day as we wont need to leave for LAX till 6.30pm, there's always something to do at disney even if you dont want to do the parks :goodvibes

We go to the parks for just a few more rides and a nice big character breakfast at the Plaza Inn, and do some more shopping if we have time. Mostly we try not to rush around too much.

I'm always a bit weepy about having to leave, so I have to get one last Indiana Jones and Big Thunder ride in.
