What do you do on your last day?

We are flying out on a Sunday evening pretty late which is not our usual. We usually do nothing but check out and travel on our last day and try and get home at a decent time. But flight options sucked so we are flying out at 7:30 (getting home probably at 11- Monday will be rough for this kiddos!). I don’t want to waste the day. What are some non park ideas? Possibly port discovery? Might be too cold though since it’s December.

Ugh. When I've flown out that late in the past, I've usually gone to a park while being ridiculously anxious about making the bus back to the hotel to get DME in time.

I'd probably pack all my stuff up, do a leisurely breakfast at the hotel, drop the bags with bell services and then either head to disney springs or hang out by the pool. I know pre-covid, the airport hotel used to do day-use rooms but I don't know if that's still an option.

There's a million things to do in Orlando outside of Disney.

Mini golf, go carts, airboat tours, there's a cool Crayola store, Mideveal Times, Old Town is basically a big carnival, etc...

Go have some second tier fun!!

I wouldn't rule out a pool day. We have been in December when it was warm enough for the pool (we are from Ga. so warm enough has to be at least in the upper 70s) and we have been in December when we have had to wear jackets and gloves at night.

We usually leave around 6pm. What we do is usually go to Epcot or DHS the last day, but we typically stay at BWV, so we don’t have to worry about transportation.

We go to a park and just make sure we leave more than enough time to get the bus back to the resort. We usually got Jan/feb so too cold for the pool for us. We always leave on a 7pm flight. 🙂

I booked a nice character breakfast mid morning, checked out then hit the pool. They have showers and changing rooms at the pools so it’s easy to stay close to where you need to be for transportation, but fun enough to wear out the kids!

We don't go to a park on our last day. I like to end my park days with a full day at MK.
On check out day we will spend the morning at the pool and then have lunch. We stay at an Epcot resort so we've got plenty of options without having to deal with taking transportation somewhere else. I'd be way too stressed worrying about making it back in time for our ride to the airport.

Character breakfasts are a great final day if you can snag the reservation. We did brunch at Topolino's Terrace on our last trip and it was a magical way to end the trip!

Depends where you are from but since we reside in Illinois it is always warm enough for us to swim in Orlando. If you do not have the option or do not want to add a park day, I'd recommend a nice breakfast at a resort (Kona, Grand Floridian Cafe, Olivias are my top 3) then pack everything up, change to swimwear, keep one backpack of clothes to change into for the plane and go swimming!

We book later flights on purpose because the last day of the trip is my main souvenir shopping day. I like to hit certain stores in Disney Springs and will sometimes resort hop to visit gift shops if there's time. Most times we'll do a leisurely breakfast at our resort then hop over to DS and shop around for a bit or do some pin trading. Last couple of times my husband and son did The Void experience (which is sadly gone now). Then we'll have a slow lunch and head back to the resort in time to get to the airport. We do TSA PreCheck so going through security is much quicker. I also like to shop a little at the airport itself and the Disney store at the airport does pin trading!

We pack up the night before. Maybe we’ll split up in two parties the next morning with one group getting in last park rides and the other getting some pool time in. We normally have a 1:00 PM ADR in DS and a flight or train that leaves late afternoon/early evening.

We always stop at DS on our last day in Florida, even if it’s a non-Disney trip. We like the later flights, and spend time shopping followed by a nice (early dinner) before heading to MCO.
