What do you DO on CC?

Please don't laugh at this question, but I have read so many people absolutely LOVE CC but what do you actually do there? Very few people actually say what they do, just that they love it. Are there activities or do you just lay around on the beach all day? I saw that you can get massages, snorkel or parasail. Is there anything else? I am thinking perhaps I might try the parasailing (if I get enough courage;) ). I am not really interested in the snorkling, or massage. I am not sure about the kids, but I am guessing they will want to spend time at the clubs. We will also be there in December so I am not sure how that changes things. I am so excited about our trip, just wondering what we can look forward to as we go to CC!

DS went to the teen beach, we went to Serenity Bay, ordered a bucket of beer, sat under an umbrella, read, rented floats and "swam", gazed at the water, pulled our sand chairs into the water and sat there for awhile, drank some more beer, ate lunch, gazed a tthe water, napped, read a little, swam on the floats with the sting rays, gazed at the water.

In other words, we did nothing and loved every minute of it :)

Oh, and the hammocks! There's just something about sipping something cool and tropical while relaxing in a hammock on a tropical island paradise! :p

there is also sailing (you must know how to sail, however), paddle boats, eating eating eating (the best food, yummy!), bike rentals, a banana boat, parasail, snorkel, sleep, eating eating eating (oh yeah i said that, huh?) hee hee and shopping

It is a fabulous place--I could stay there forever!

Just relaxing at the beach is great. This year we took the glass bottom boat from CC and it was OK. Mostly though we just enjoy the water. There will be castmembers coming around to take your drink orders and you can eat on the island at Cookies and of course there is a gift shop. The water is so clear and the beach so clean that you won't want to leave.

The Island itself is simply gorgeous! There is a ton to do there, like people have mentioned. This December I might rent a bike - I have never done that there before. The snorkeling is nice and just lying on the beach is great! You will enjoy no matter what you do!

On our first visit we basically stayed on the family beach(with family) and had lunch at Cookies...which was the best food of that cruise.

On our 2nd, which was just DH & myself, we had parasailing booked for 11:00. We didnt want to set up a spot on the beach before that so we spent the morning walking around, shopping, taking pictures, etc... Then we parasailed and that ended a little after 12:00. After lunch at Cookies we headed over to the adult beach. There we grabbed a hammock & chair, and a woman who was leaving let us have her float. We floated in the water for a while before heading back to the ship around 2:45. A day in paradise! ;)

Sitting in a chair at the edge of the water in Serenity Bay with a good book and a pina colada is one of my favorite things to do on earth. If anyone is on the September 6th Eastern I will see you there...

For a unique perspective, try being one of the first on or off the island. It is really cool to be out there before or after the masses. I think I boarded at 4:59 on one of the cruises.

I think the best way to enjoy CC is to miss the boat then you can enjoy the entire island to yourself with nothing except peace and quiet and an endless (hopefully) supply of Konk Koolers.....that in my opinion is the best way to enjoy the island...:teeth:

Hi SFed.

Wouldn't after the masses = last off? ( EXACTLY how many Pina Coladas did you have???)... lol.

Did I see the word Paradise...must be talking about CC then. My thing to do is absolutely NOTHING. Just take my chair to the waters edge, sit there and let the kids have fun. I think DCL goes there last so we all rebook.

To me Castaway Cay is most beautiful first thing in the morning. It isn't as crowded then and if we just want to play in the water we go to the far end of the family beach. On our last trip we went right by the snorkeling area and were some of the first in the water. It was nice and clear and we had a great time!

Later we went over to the adult beach and snorkeled there as well.

We've also been known to just relax with a good book and watch the water.

No matter what you do Castaway Cay is a wonderful slice of heaven and what makes DCL stand apart!

On our last cruise the adult beach served lobster burgers for lunch. I don't know if they were just left over from the night before or if this is usual. We'll be heading there first to check it out this time!

The kids have a dino dig. The teenagers have a area for activities just for themselves. There is parasailing, snorkeling, bicycles, Cookies (great food), massages, walk around, float, read, lay in hammocks, shop, they have some new stuff, scuba dive, nature walk, seahorse snorkeling and kayak ride. But I love just sitting in a chair about ankle deep water and have the waitstaff bring me drinks and just enjoy the peace at Serenity Bay. PARADISE. See me at the Western 8/2/03 trip.

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh.....Castaway Cay.
First - A full body massage in a cabana on Serenity Bay.
Next - head for the bar and get a coooooool drink.
Follow up - with finding a lounger chair and soak in the view.
You could - take in lunch, walk the beach.
But......just make sure to relax cuz it is your last day of Paradise.

aaaahhh....Serenity Bay! Sitting in the shade reading a good book - get hot - go into the water. Eat & drink - repeat all of the above!

Castaway also has an added feature, a game room w/ Air hockey, big checkers, pool table, etc...near the teen beach. And don't forget to buy some souvenirs/t-shirts at their Castaway shop. This is the only place where you can get Castaway souvenirs....the ship doesn't even sell them! and mail a postcard that takes weeks to arrive in the US!!!LOL

I can only echo what the others have already said and add that I enjoy photography on Castaway Cay - great photo ops of the ship as well as of a lot of characters. Am looking forward to some more great opportunities on this next trip as well!!!

This is what we did:

1) Had our photos taken by the ship.
2) Visited the Post Office-we purchased the Post cards on the ship and filled them out and then purchased stamps and mailed them off at the Castaway Post Office.
3) Found our perfect location on the beach with a hammock.
4) Rented floats and took them out to the water. The kids swam out to the diving, jumping and rope area and had a ball.
5) Looked for wildlife in the water. It is everywhere. We saw fish and dh found a crab.
6) Looked for shells.
7) Built a sand Wonder ship.
8) Went to the Grouper the game room for lots of fun.
9) Ate lunch.
10) Visited the stores.
11) Walked around and explored the island.

Vija, the time will go fast!!!!!!!! It flew for us and before we knew it , it was time to get back on board. Bring a diposable camera for the water and another one for the island. There are many great photo ops on the island.

Bring a diposable camera for the water

You never know where the CMs will set up a cheese table with dip...

Also, better make it an UNDERWATER disposable camera...
