What do you do on Black Friday?

DD is taking the grand kids to see Santa and doing some shopping.
Then the 7 of us in our family are going to a resort for the night. It has a water park.

We were hoping we’d get a call that my new car was ready for pickup but nothing yet. So I will probably just spend the day relaxing and maybe put up our other Christmas tree. I don’t think I’ve ever gone shopping on Black Friday but sometimes do some online shopping.

We are going to get the rest of the Christmas decorations out on Friday. Sometime this weekend we'll decorate the tree and bake cookies.

Work. We also have a long standing tradition of going to Chinatown for dinner (chicago) with some out of town relatives who will be staying with us

Which place? My favorite is Emperor’s Choice.

Black Friday in-store shopping ended for me some years back. Now the sales are usually
offered online and over an extended period of time. And I don’t really need to buy much anymore.

This year I plan to rake leaves, dig up dahlias, cut the lawn for the final time this year and then service the mower and put it away till
Spring.

I don't stand in line waiting for some place to open at 5:00 AM, that is for sure. The online sales have pretty much defeated the need to do that. I may buy a few things, but I don't need much. I will be doing some work, so I don't have to use PTO. I have 10 servers to upgrade, but I can do it remotely.
Yeah - I'm actually tired of the Black Friday "deals" already - its been non stop since Halloween.

Other than the 75% streaming channels on Amazon not much has interested me.

As far as going to a shop at 5AM - no thanks - cant imagine any deal that Id wat in line for except maybe gold bars half off.

I'm having snow tires put on DD's car as her Christmas present. She is a social worker and drives her shiny light blue Honda FIT (named "Elsa;" DD is a Disney girl!) all over our area in north-central Maine. We'll all feel better if she has good tires.

Did this exact same thing last weekend

That’s the one! Rated as the best on Yelp
It is? That's great! Their seafood is exceptional. Those ginger and garlic prawns are so delicious! The Peking Duck is also a standout, but must be ordered a day (?) in advance.

We get several dishes and share. I love egg rolls and it’s one of the few places that actually make egg rolls instead of spring rolls.

I can’t remember the last time I went shopping on Black Friday, if ever. I’ve done all my shopping online for many years now, and I always have most of it done before Black Friday rolls around. There are a few things left on the shopping list that I’m waiting to see if they go on sale, but either way I’ll purchase them tomorrow and be done. I don’t like leaving the shopping until this late as I prefer to have all the “work” done before December 1st so I can enjoy the season without stress.

This year Black Friday will be spent on I-95 in DC traffic traveling back home to Atlanta with our two young kids and a baby. Please send thoughts and prayers. 😩

Hopefully doing most of the decorating. I already did the Christmas village and dishes—those are stored in a closet in the basement. All the attic stuff still needs to be done. DH did outside lights last week but hasn’t turned them on yet. I have wreaths for the windows in the attic as well as two trees, linens and various other decor. I’d love to have it all done and the boxes back in the attic by Sunday night.

Doing my best to resist from impulsive shopping. But Black Friday is always an exciting time for snagging great deals. This year, I plan to browse online sales, especially on sites like tophatter , where the variety and discounts are often impressive. It's a fun and convenient way to kick off the holiday shopping season without the hustle and bustle of crowded stores. Online shopping on days like Black Friday can be both a time-saver and a way to find unique items.

One of my best childhood memories is taking the metra train from the chicago suburbs to Union Station. Walking State Street, Going to Marshall Fields and then walking up N. Michigan Ave... Maybe if we got a table lunch at Ed Debivics. would always come home with so many paper shopping bags. Miss those green field bags
