What do you do on Black Friday?

Decorate
Decorate
and more decorating.

Before I start decorating I do a little online shopping to get Black Friday deals.

Black Friday itself seems to be meaningless anymore. Stores and websites have been having “Black Friday” sales since October.

The only time I went shopping early on BF was about 1997, when early meant stores opened at 8am instead of 9 or 10.

I just like to watch the crowd highlights on the news. :)
Although it’s not as fun in recent years as crowds have calmed down as more people shop online.
TV news can save mega bucks by just showing past BF crowds at the malls. It’s the same year after year after year.

I do miss the occasional reports of fights and near riots at Walmart and other places.

Do people still camp out in front of stores starting a few days in advance?

I went Black Friday shopping once, many years ago. Never again.

Beginning Christmas decorating and eating leftovers 😊

I do not go to big-box stores or malls on Black Friday. Once or twice many years ago, we went to a stand-alone Game Stop - definitely for a Wii, and maybe the other time for a TV?

I'll occasionally buy something on line.

I think black Friday is pretty much done.

It seems to start November 1st now and there is so much early access there is almost no point.
Yeah there may be some door busters or whatever on the day - but no thanks.

Back in the day though - yeah I remember getting up at a ridiculous time and waiting in line for a Furby.
I think I picked up about 20 of them and had a very good Christmas that year.
The next year I got another 10 or so and I think I still have them in the attic :( - Karma is a ...

I see that the new version of Furby is back now and may be the hot item this year.

If it were just me, I would shop online. However, for many many years now my mom, sister, and I have had the tradition of going shopping and my mom gives us money to shop for our family's Christmas that day from her. She truly LOVES watching us make the decisions, and so forth. We have a nice lunch and just enjoy some girl time that we don't get because we dont live close anymore. Last year we added my 13 year old daughter to the "fun". I do enjoy the time and memories we make, but I am still not much of a shopper so at times I will wait patiently in the car and make orders on my phone :)

I used to go out when my kids were little and the deals were better. I feel like now it’s just faster, easier and less hassle to shop online.

I decorate on Black Friday. I decorate a lot so it’ll take a good part of the weekend.

I’m retired now but I almost always worked on BF in the past. I liked doing so because many people DID take the day as PTO so there were fewer around to annoy me.

Black Friday shopping has been a tradition in my extended family my whole life. I have fond childhood memories of going with my parents, grandparents, cousins, aunts, just a huge group spending the morning at the mall. These days, a lot of the older generation is gone and the rest of the family is all spread out. And we care a lot more about experiences than stuff...but to me, Black Friday morning IS an experience, and a memory, so we keep up the tradition. Don't usually buy anything, just like to get out in the crowd. Then later in the day we buy the tree and go home to start decorating. It's fun.

I think by the time they coined the name Black Friday it was pretty much over.

We go walking around various stores but we don't get up early. Just a sort of leisurely thing and if something looks like a good gift for someone we might pick something up, but sometimes it's just walking and watching. We go down to Maryland for Thanksgiving and I feel like it's not quite as chaotic as it once was, but maybe it's because we don't go out early.

The usual, which is get a walk in outside if nice, or drive to mall if not. Even if I go to the mall, I'm not worried about "crowds". I may or may not look in a store if at the mall. Otherwise, I'll be home watching tv and going online. I habe never been a black Friday shopper.

We will be doing some shopping online over the next few days. Then we might do some in store shopping on Friday evening once the crowds die down. We shall see.

I don't stand in line waiting for some place to open at 5:00 AM, that is for sure. The online sales have pretty much defeated the need to do that. I may buy a few things, but I don't need much. I will be doing some work, so I don't have to use PTO. I have 10 servers to upgrade, but I can do it remotely.
