what do you do differently?

Ok so this is our first husband and wife trip for 7 days EVER!
How is WDW different with no kids?
How do we loosen up and act our age? (29, 30) we act like parents, not sure if we have ever acted our age, maybe our parents ages....
Im just concerned I want to have a GREAT time!

WDW without kids is wonderful!

You get to decide when you want to get up rather than getting up when the kids get up.

You get to decide on the spur of the moment where to go that day. And you are free to change your mind at any time.

You get to relax and take the time to just see the sights.

You can enjoy some fine dining experiences - just the two of you.

You can enjoy the attractions on a different level. Disney puts stuff in for adults as well as children.

Don't be afraid to act your age. Or any other age you would like to be.

DH and I do not have kids and we go to WDW all the time! We get up when we want to, go to whatever park we want to, see what we want to, eat when and what we want to....it is great.

Now here is my question back to you...we are going in Oct with our 3 and 10 year old nieces....how is it different going with kids??

dh and I went 3 years in a row before we had kids. we had the best times...will be interested to see how we do with the kids (going in october for the first time with them).

one of our favorite books was WDW for Lovers (which I think changed to WDW for Couples). great tips in it...we found lots of out of the way spots that we never would have found, and most of the recommendations were spot on.

Going to Disney WITHOUT kids when you have KIDS at home is a totally different experience than those of you who dont have any at all.

DH and I went for a few days just us in June of last year, although i was pregnant with DD8mos.

Yes, you get up when you want. You can stand in line and enjoy things, eachother. Eat where you want without giving consideration to the menu. Watch Wishes together...hold hands and just enjoy...

On the flip side...then entire time we were there I was constantly thinking of my DD. Calling my MIL, talking to my DD, looking for things to buy her...
I dont think she will ever let me forget that we went without her!!!!

Have a great time, enjoy the bands, entertainment, food etc. and every once in awhile, go on a ride that will flood you with memories of your kids

We done the Disney with kids until they were grown and still go with the kids as adults now. Wife and I went a couple of times just the 2 of us, it was different, fun but it is much better with our grown kids or another couple along. We compare notes, places, meet up at different times, visit the lounges everywhere on property. We're more of a people type old pair now and have done WDW over 35 times, always on property, always deluxe, we've seen everything and done everything and like to introduce Disney to our friends who haven't been there and would like to join us for a vacation and learn our secrets and tricks. We get more enjoyment out of watching their faces light up seeing the World for the first time, relaxing around the resort pool, having pizza and beer in FW in the evenings, EWP from the beach, just all the joys Disney can bring you.

Solo, its hard, when our kids or anyone we know find out when we're going, we usually go twice a year, we have comers galore, we like it that way. Everyone has their own way of seeing Disney, guess our way is alittle different then most, we like the company and your own grown kids are the best.

I'm with you on this - DH and I went without the kids last New Year's to celebrate our anniversay - we really enjoyed ourselves, but everywhere we turned, there were kids (go figure ) so we spent a majority of the time wishing DD4 was with us, thinking how much she would enjoy this or that - mixed bag really!

Going w/o the kids is a whole different experience. My DH and I went to DW in July w/o the kids. My husband had a convention that he needed to attend. We had a couple of days in the parks together, but then I had a couple of days in the parks completely SOLO! No children means that you can go at your own pace. We did not have to worry about what the children wanted to do or if they were going to like the next attraction. We found that a ton of time is spent (w/ kids) with characters and child swap! Our favorite part of the solo trip was the dining! Our youngest is not a good restaurant guest, so going relaxed to restaurtant was a huge treat! We did spend a huge amount of time calling on the telephone and an even larger amount of money for treats to bring back home! Although we felt some guilt, we are leaving in less than two weeks with the kids! Knowing that we would be returning in a month with our little ones made us not feel as bad! I must confess - when we walked by a little one in the the middle of a major melt down, we just smiled at ourselves! We were so happy that we did not have to deal with it - but knew that would be us in a month! Go and have fun!

You may want to consider doing the keys to the kingdom tour at the magic kingdom. Guests must be 16 and older so its something you may not be able to do on other visits.

Jellyrolls at the boardwalk resort is supposed to be alot of fun. Its a nighttime thing with dueling pianos & sing a longs, etc.

Maybe enjoy more table service restaurants.

Took our first adult only trip to Disneyworld last November to celebrate 25 years of wedded bliss, kiddies are grown, (21 & 24) BUT if they had been invited they would have come. November we are taking a trip with our children and 12 other family and friends......whole nother post, YIKES!!

Doing an adult only trip was more relaxed, more about US. We spend a whole lot more time in EPCOT than on any previous visit. Just sitting, absorbing the atmosphere, trying different foods, DRINKING

Having a glass of champagne while sitting in *Italy* watching the street shows and people walking by was as much fun as riding Terror of Terror with the kiddies 10 times.

At the Animal Kingdom we had cocktails at the Dawa Bar in Africa watching the entertainment, and I do think it was the best bloody mary I ever had...

On our adult only trip we took a lot more time appreciating the detail of disney......a slower much more relaxing pace.

Also.......parasailing at the Contemporary and snuba-ing in the Living Seas tank. Lots of fun and something we did not do on visits with the kids.

First of all, buy yourselves some mouse ears and wear them all day in the park. Make sure you get your name (or your childhood nickname) sewn on the back. You two are really young (well, compared to dh and I) Do a romantic dinner. Ride a ride you would never do with the kids and hold hands the whole time you are on it. There is such a difference when you don't go with the kids. Just pretend you're dating again!!

DH wanted to add take a carriage ride. Go to pizza planet and win some goofy little prize for each other.

Well I would say just the opposite, IF this is their first time there, PLAN PLAN PLAN to make sure they are going to get the experience of a lifetime! We loved taking the kids, we would get to the park early (our kids are always up at 6am) and follow TGM's touring advice and we had no waits and a great time, unlike some people we didnt break at all, instead we headed back to the hotel after dinner and swam and got to bed by 9 each night!
