What do you consider to be a great incentive?

OK, so we just became new members of DVC based on the current incentives at AKV. :thumbsup2

What I am wanting to know is... based on past offers by DVC, what do you consider to be great incentives? How low have you seen the prices go? The consensus here on The Dis seems to be that the most recent webcast didn't have great incentives.

I am happy we bought and have zero regrets. But I am already thinking about adding another contract in about a year or so. As I move forward, what kind of prices should I be looking for to make it a great opportunity?

Just trying to educate myself. Thank you everyone!

From what I've heard, I don't think the webcast incentives were too bad for those purchasing AKV.

The best deals were in the early 1990s for OKW. But you won't see those prices again, any more than we'll see $1 per gallon gasoline.

The best incentives are the ones that you are happy with.:)
Each may suit people's individual needs, ie.. discount, free tickets, etc..

I am still thrilled with the incentives we got from the first webcast back in May. $20 off for BLT. Since it was still selling at $112 per point then, that was only $92 per point. That was for 270+ points, so that's about $2200 less than what it would cost me now with the same incentive.

I think that you hit the nail on the head here!! There are always going to be better deals out there, but if you are happy with your "deal," that's all that really matters. :goodvibes

I was happy with OKW as a resale for $67 with a contract that ends in 2042. Many people don't want a contract good for only 33 years, but want new at 50 years. I'm happy to not have to worry about maintenance fees (likely $3-5K in 30 yrs) well into my 70s. Maybe I'll want to extend, but I don't HAVE to. That is a contract I'm happy with. We may not have gas by then, never mind $1 per gallon gas.

I think that when you're ready to buy something, you should be happy with what you're getting at the price you're paying. If the cost/benefit of a vacation club works in your favor, that's the key.

Good luck with your add-on. If you are thinking about adding in a year or so, I would consider adding on now since the economy is looking to recover and prices are likely to only go up. Have you considered doing an add on from a resale rather than new? Might be the best deal you can find.

I just bought into AK also, what incentive didyou get? I got all of 2008 points as well as 2009 and 8 free annual passes....and paid 112.00 per point....i thought this was a great incentive!

Webcast Incentive:

$94 per point
Feb use year with bonus 2009 points banked into account (i.e. as of 2/1/10 I will have double points)
Only have to pay Annual Dues for the last few days in December

We purchased in May 2009 and we got AKV for $82 a point. We had an extra bonus for having a DVC referral (that they did away with) and a certain amount off when purchasing over 200 points. I was happy with what we got. I would have been happier getting 2008 point too like some lucky people did.

I agree.

To me, OKW or SSR from the mid-60s to low 70s is a very good buy -- $30 per point or more lower than "new" purchases from DVC directly. And there are many, many contracts available so a diligent shopper should be able to find a very good match for their needs.

Prudent buyers should at least look at resale in this market, IMHO.
