Yes, I know this should be clear. But I'm finding it somewhat difficult to put together my clothes for dinner every night when I'm not quite sure what they mean by 'no tank tops'. I really can't believe that on an cruise to a tropical location you can't wear any type of sleeveless top. I have several tops that could be called 'tank tops' because they don't have sleeves. However they have wide straps that cover most of the top of my shoulders. If I would wear a spaghetti-strap top (not likely), I'd wear some type of shirt or wrap over my shoulders.
I have 2-3 shawls of various colors & will probably bring them just in case but I'd appreciate anyones experience, opinion, etc about what they mean by 'no tank tops'. Thanks!

Oh no, you're fine w/ sleeveless tops that aren't the casual w/ big armholes, have the Budweiser dog on it, etc. I honestly think they mean more for the guys. I don't think I ever wore anything w/ sleeves. I'm a sleeveless kinda gal!

I agree. I think it's more for the casual tanks. Nice tanks are everywhere now.

I have lots of dressy tank top. I do think that "no tank top" rule is more for men!

When I hear "no tank tops", I think: "No hairy-man airpits at the dinner table, please!!" :scared1:  :scared1:

Thank heavens for this rule!!! :thumbsup2

We went on a cruise for our honeymoon, and one of our table mates wore a white tank top EVERY night to dinner!

I do wish that the guy at the table next to us had honored this request at formal night on our second cruise. Add to the fact that the entire family looked like they just came out of the gym. It only added to the attention they received when the "barged" into dinner almost an hour late saying loudly that they didn't care what anyone said. :rolleyes1

Unfair! Hairy-woman airpits are worse .... BTW what is an airpit?

the airpit is where the planes land, right?

with respect to hairy man ARMpits, however, I always get this image of Ed Asner in Rich Man, Poor Man, back in the 70's, as the immigrant baker, wearing a wife-beater as he took bread out of the oven.

But hey, its my vacation, I'm paying big bucks, whatever I wear doesn't affect you, mind your own business, my Downtown Disney tank top cost more than your suit, yada yada yada...oh wait, we didn't want this thread to go THERE, did we, LOL?

Yes, I will make DS change out of his Lebron James jersey before going to dinner...

Off Topic: Too bad your son doesnt' live in Akron, Home of LeBron James, he's on the front page of the Akron Beacon Journal almost EVERYday. In fact he is even there today w/ his bike-a-thon. Check out www.Ohio.com

Thats good to hear that it applies basically to men. I know cotton tanks and prairie skirts have been quite popular lately. :sunny:

:rotfl: like the bud dog comment!
Actually on our last cruise I did see a guy in the dining room wearing one of those you describe! Not sure about the bud dog though! He's in the background of one of my pictures and I hate seeing him in that!

Your post brought back memories! The only man I would want to see in a tank top is William Smith who played Falconetti in Rich Man Poor Man. Ok back to reality :)
