What do the French have against Lance Armstrong

Oh good grief. There are rude French and nice French, and there are rude Americans and there are nice Americans. No one country holds everyone who's rude.

As for Lance Armstrong, it does sound like SOME French are jealous. I don't think that it has anything to do with him being American but rather it's because he's something besides French.

I agree totally. I see we have a french smilie...lol. :artist: The "They" in my post referred to the buttwipes who refused to retract the statement about Lance...not ALL French.

THAT I agree with 100%. Lance has a lot to be proud of and nothing they say can change that, the jerks.

WTH? Where'd that come from? A little gun-shy are we?

Gun-shy? That's so cute. Actually I'm having the nicotine craving from hell 8 months later (go figure) and to quote Natalie Maines "I'm not ready to make nice". Nighty nite John!

Thank you! No one asked, but I like Lance too. Great role model.

Good night Gracie.

I have been to france 2 times both with a smile on my face, same as I would show up at disney. The second I opened my mouth and out came american english the horns went up.
So the French not liking Lance Armstrong is ;like a NO DUH to me.

They don't like him #1 for being American and #2 for suspicion of "doping" yet not outside the rules. Vitamin K...thickens the blood yada, yada, yada. So I would have to say it's not just the French that are waitng for him to fall. There are many other people/countries who are saying "things that make you go hmmm".

Myst

PS Don't take this wrong I love the guy. :-)

I honestly don't think he was doping at the beginning. If he did it did not have much of an impact.
If he was -why did he just keep getting better and winning? Even after he became the most tested athlete in the world he kept winning.

Maybe I'm confused, but I thought I'd read that the meds he was on to fight cancer caused some of those early results to appear as if he was doping.

Is it time to bash the French again? I must have forgotten to set my watch.

Obviously it's not a swiss-made watch... :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

When I saw the title of this thread, I knew I could count on certain individuals to quickly engage in French-bashing. It's nice to know that their timing is as dependable as say, the train schedule back in Nazi Germany.

Really? The one rude person I met in Paris was a fellow tourist--from Italy. I found the French to be quite nice to me. But then, I did try to speak their language.
:confused3

Wow, it only took 32 posts to get "Nazi" mentioned. And did you really want to open THAT can of worms?

What a horrible thing to say. :sad2: Not funny, not sarcastic, just horrible.

Now back to the reason for this thread...The buttwipes who won't retract the statement are upsent that a non-French person has dominated that race. GET OVER IT!!!

I've been to France also and was treated quite well despite the fact I am woefully ignorant of their language and it was quite obvious I had an American accent. I at least made an attempt to speak their language, was polite, and was treated in kind. I did encounter many rude people in France, only it wasn't the French that were the rude one (several Americans and a few Australians come to mind).

I have been to places here in my own country where I was treated much worse due to my accent

From my experience, usually the locals anywhere will treat the way that you treat them. I say usually because a few BIG exceptions come to mind!

Usual cast of characters taking any opportunity to bash the French. Oddly enough many are the same people you find getting on people for generalizing.

The people who will not retract their statements are obviously poor sports, but they do not speak for the entire population.

I'm curious how much less attention the tour will get now. The ultimate victory for Lance would be for them to come begging for him to make an appearance to help launch or finish the race.

Since the OP's quetsion was "What do the French have against Lance Armstrong?" I will answer that question............

because he's an American NOT named Jerry Lewis
