Besides the milk and cookies you leave for Santa, do you leave anything for the reindeer? We really didn't do that growing up. Over the years my kids brought home things like special reindeer food (shredded wheat and glitter, I think) to feed the reindeer. An apple would makes sense. Or maybe some carrots.

Do you know what DH's family put out for the reindeer? A potato!!!:rotfl: The first year we had a small child and did this, I cracked up when DH said, "And of course, a potato for the reindeer."

What do the reindeer eat at your house?

Oatmeal w/ glitter in it. DS doesn't see me put the glitter in though. It's magic. :thumbsup2

A carrot of course. And you can tell whether or not Rudolph was there by how many bites are taken out of the carrot.

Reindeer food at our house is a mixture of oatmeal, glitter (the magic dust to help them fly), and sequins (to attract their attention from the sky). We put it on the fron steps on a paper plate (easy cleanup) for the reindeer. My sister in law gave my boys some a few years ago, and we need to mix up some more for this year.

So no one else puts out potatoes? I told my husband that one year his parents must have been out of carrots or apples....or is it an old Dutch tradition?

The reindeer usually eat carrots, but when we're out of carrots Cheerios will do in a pinch. : )

We leave Santa cookies and beer. :woohoo: We figure he gets enough milk at everyone else's houses. Santa deserves a beer after all of the hard work he did getting ready for Christmas.

We leave carrots for them in the house (I guess Santa brings it back to them). Then we also put the oatmeal and glitter sprinkled on our front lawn.

At our house the Santa's team get oatmeal with pixie dust in it, carrots and a few sugar cubes.

Reindeer food the kids made at a Breakfast with Santa. I think it's straw with some glitter and a few other things tossed in. Plus we usually leave a carrot as well.

When I was little it was carrots. With my kids it's the reindeer food, oatmeal and glitter. They spread it all outside, I just have to remember to get rid of it after bedtime.;)
