What do I need in my toddler/diaper bag?

This will be our first trip taking a potty trained child and we are still trying to figure out what we need to carry in our diaper bag for this new stage. Currently, I am carrying a poteet travel seat, extra clothes and wipes, plastic bag for soiled clothes and an extra pair of shoes, anything else I shod take?

I have heard people say they are not taking their kids to WDW until they are potty trained, I am actually nervous about taking a potty trained child after several diaper trips!

I would say you have what you need on your list. Can't think of anything else I bring for DS. You will need to be on your toes with bringing LO to bathroom breaks as they will forget in the excitement. Try to bring them every 30-45 minutes or between rides at least in the beginning until you know how they will do. GL and have fun!

I am kind of secretly hoping DS won't be potty trained by the time we go...it will cut into our ride time too much :lmao:

eta: I think your list looks great...extra clothes, wipes, etc.

One of the things I like about WDW is how many rest rooms there are, you never have to go far to find one. Still, I think it would be good if you have those spotted ahead of time, so you always know where to go if your DS needs to go now! (I remember how that would happen. ;) )

I definitely agree with you. I was never in a rush for my kids to potty train because to me, dealing with potty runs ever 15 minutes is a LOT harder than diaper changes. My son through me for a loop and potty trained himself at 2 years and 4 months. Sigh... And now he's almost 3 and he only likes to use his potty seat, not real toilets so Disney is going to be challenging.

I am packing an extra change of clothes including shoes (because let's face it, the pee always seems to collect in the shoes when there's an accident). I'm also packing small snacks, bottled water, SPRAY sun screen (so much easier than the lotion kind)...

Also my favorite thing in the entire world for the toddler/preschool crowd:
http://www.amazon.com/Gerber-Spill-Proof-Water-Toddler/dp/B001J55HXU

Pop it on top of any bottled water and you have an instant spill proof sport top. Fabulous. I don't know why Amazon is selling them for $10... at Meijer (local grocery store), they are only $2.

Drink cup, snacks and toys.

Drink cup can be filled in the morning and refilled throughout the day.

Snack - goldfish, pretzels, animal crackers, etc. One day we didn't have goldfish at the HS rope drop, but the boy behind us did. The mother saw our son checking out the goldfish and asked if he could have some. That was a very thoughtful mom.

Toys - a few of his favorite small toys or new toys from the trip. This is another must. My son played with his Cars cars in the mulch while we swapped on several rides. My sister in law brought bubble one day. All the kids loved it. Again it gave the kids something to do while we rode RnR. We brought a small Mickey Mouse frisbee, again the kids played frisbee while the parents rode MS. The toys are great for the parks and while you dine.

Another idea - glow sticks. You can buy them cheap at deals, dollar store, micheals, etc. They were great for the evening at the parks. Plus you get 10-12 for a dollar and you can share with others around you.

Have fun!

One tip I've seen on these boards is to take post it notes to stick over the auto sensor on the toilets. They are loud and can scare little ones if they "go off" while they are still seated.

My husband told my newly trained just turned 2 year old that it was Mickey flushing the toilets and she wasn't scared anymore. LOL I wouldn't have thought of that but I guess daddy logic works sometimes. :)
