What do grown ups do at Disney :)

I'm sure this has been asked a million times, but with all the changes I can't seem to find anything. So I will ask again.

DH and I are taking our first "kid free" trip for a Star Wars weekend in May. We are only going to Epcot and HS, with a quick stop at DTD on one of the travel days. 3 days total. Any suggestions as to what "adults only" Disney activities, restaurants etc we should get in while we're there? I'm not looking to avoid kids obviously, just thinking things that we couldn't do when the kids are with us that we should take advantage of this trip. This will probably be the only time we go without the kids for a long time, so we want to make the most of it!

My husband and I don't have kids and we're in our mid-40s. However, we are really like big kids because we like to do almost everything! The only thing we avoid is character dining due to the sheer noise and also the price you pay for having characters.

As far as adult oriented things, I would look at signature dining. California Grill is always nice and you can book a late dinner and see the fireworks! Also, if you like to drink, you can drink your way around the world in Epcot.

Have a great time!

Ummm ok. So we wake up without someone in our face. We have a quick breakfast, hit some rides, have lunch, maybe go back to the hotel for "nap" time. Hit Epcot, drink back to the hotel for "naptime" then back to a park for fireworks. I dont really grasp the not knowing what to do as an adult.

You'll have a wonderful trip, with perhaps (unless you love them) no character meet and greets. You can resort hop, look around, and try apps/drinks or try a new restaurant (even a signature restaurant). Walk around the world show case at a leisurely pace, with a drink in hand. Maybe go for a horse carriage ride or spend some time at a spa. You'll have a blast!

What time is a good time to book California grill to see the fireworks? I am thinking we will have to do that while we're there. Thanks for your suggestions!

I would do the Backstage Magic tour, for sure. I'm already thinking about planning a 16th birthday trip for DD in 3.5 years so that I can finally take the tour.

What I want. When I want. And it's fabulous!

Then again, my kids are mid-20s so even when they're with us we still follow that plan!

I am taking my first solo trip in December, so I guess I will find out then. I am excited and nervous. I am also going to miss some of my favorite table restaurants because I have this "thing" about dining alone in a restaurant, but I am looking forward to Disney at my own pace. Having said that, my daughter is almost 18 and therefore almost an adult. We do the same things, just no autographs and we get more rides in now that she older. :) Don't worry, you will have an AWESOME time!

Maleficent Dragon, what about if you took a book with you and read while you had a solo dinner? Would that perhaps make you more comfortable while solo at a fancy sit down place? Just a thought :flower:

What do Grown Up's do at Disney World you ask . . . . act like little kids of course!!!!

If you normally stay at the value resorts, and if this is within your budget, how about splurging on one of the more luxurious rooms this time around, especially since it's only a few days? Book that romantic room at the Grand Floridian, check out the club level at Wilderness Lodge, or grab a park view room at the Contemporary!

That's so funny you say that because we have only been once before and stayed at POR. We loved it, but they didn't have any rooms available under the PIN number I got. DH and I were like eh it's only a few days and it's just a place to sleep, save a few $ and stay in the value so we have more money for the parks. Well when we called to add another day, it wasn't available at POP and there was still nothing available at POR. I thought, price out the contemporary just for the heck of it! We ended up at a moderate, but I had the thought for a moment that it would be nice :)

My wife and I just returned from a 10 day trip where we didn't even get park tickets. We went to Downtown Disney, played some putt putt at the Fairways, had fun at the Boardwalk, went to Cocoa Beach, and just slowed down and had fun spending time with one another. We did also take this as an opportunity to check out some of the resorts we've always wanted to possibly stay in the future and eat at some restaurants both on property and off that we never would have in the past. Just take the opportunity to slow down and enjoy your time with each other. That was pretty magical all in itself.

It depends on when the fireworks will be. Find that out first, then I would book dinner to start 1 hour before the fireworks to make sure you are seated prior to them starting for sure. Then when we did it we got there 1 hour before our reservation so we could ask to be seated near the windows facing MK and told them we were willing to wait for such a table. It worked out great!

Ride everything that has a 48" height requirement together. Enjoy a late night in the hot tub. Eat at one or more of the Swan & Dolphin restaurants. Stop at one restaurant at each monorail resort and have a drink and app at each location. Don't stop to meet one single character...NOT 1! Arrive early, do not take a mid day break and stay until at least one park closes.
If you like seafood, I can't agree more! Blue Zoo in the Dolphin is an amazing restaurant.
