What Disney Tip Are you really glad you listened to?

It probably only cost us $20 to do that window. And most of that ($12 of it) was for that lightup Mickey ghost. It slowly alternated colors andwas battery operated. Wegot it at Walgreen along with the Disney window clings. The rest of it we got at the local Dollar Tree. :) The pumpkins are normal $Tree pumkins with construction paper ears taped on. :)

While you're taking pictures of your tickets & photopass, also take a picture or two of where you parked. Nothing like leaving any park with an armload of treasure (and tired kids) and not being able to find your car. The act of taking the picture alone will help you remember where you parked.

Buy a poncho before you go to WDW! I remember reading this tip online and not believing that it would rain when we visited at the end of June. But, I ended up buying some ponchos anyway since they were really cheap. I'm so grateful I did because I can't imagine myself purchasing the overpriced ponchos sold at the park!

I always request to sit in the "Main" dining area at O'hana's so that you are more a part of the action, plus you can see the fireworks if you time it right.

Also, agree with remembering ponchos.

Make sure you have a pen for your kids for the autographs...the characters don't always have them, and make sure they are big enough for their character hands, lol.

Always remember to bring cash to tip Mousekeeping...we did $5/day for 10 days, but the last day we left $10. My kids would run back to the room every night and there would always be some kind of towel animal or funny scene with a combination of towel animals and some of the kids items from the room. We had 12 of them in our front window by the time we left!! We had a spotless room every day and never had to ask for new towels, clean bedding, or any type of clean-up.

Also, remember small bills if you plan on tipping your Magical Express driver or the baggage hold CM's. It's basically the only times you'll need cash at Disney.

Wait...what is the clothes line tip? I must've missed it.popcorn::

Attach a clothes line across the vanity area then use a $1 Tree shower curtain for privacy. 3M Removable Hooks work great.

I did something similar on our last trip but I used a shower curtain rod and a curtain I had at home. This was the best tip ever!!!

I travel with my two sons and I hate getting dressed in the tiny bathroom. Not only did it provide privacy and more space for me to get dressed in, it also kept the room dark so they could sleep a little longer.

I'll be using this tip on our trip later this month :cool1:

I do this everywhere! I can never find my car. I did it the other day at the mall :lmao:

Everyone had a first time for going to Disney. You remember, people heard that you were going, and lots of them gave you advice. Or perhaps, if your like me, you read everything that you could get your hands on. Well which items of advice did you listen to? Be it a practical one or a magical one. On my first trip with my 4 year old grandson, I am glad I listened when someone told me to ask to sit in the front of the monorail. We did that our first night on the way to Epcot and it was wonderful. Definitely do a character meal, I was advised. We did three, and they were all special in their own way. I also remembered hearing something about O'hana and dinner and fireworks. It was my birthday and we had spent the afternoon at Downtown Disney, which was a disaster. It was about 8 o'clock and we were back at our hotel, I was starved. We thought about room service. I remembered somewhere about asking for seating at O'hanas, you might be able to get in without a PS. It was not a busy season. We got seated, it was my birthday, I got serenaded to the tune of Hawaii 50. It was my 50th birthday. We saw the fireworks from the restaurant and it was all spur of the moment. I simply remembered, at the right time, of course, and my birthday was really magical. So you all have them. What is the one piece of advice you are glad you listened to? Practically or Magically?

DO NOT wear NEW shoes to WDW....and so the first trip was blister time galore... so learned from that.....I had the same gym shoes and had just bought new pair for the trip...nope did not work... we always do couple of character breakfast still and this will be our 69th trip (in 40 days) try to have dinner with characters but not as easy to do. and the ugly fanny packs we refused for years and then one by one I got one and then sister stopped laughing and got her one and finally DBIL got him one. yes they ugly but sure hold a lot and so much easier and do not have to worry about sitting them down and leaving them. back packs did not work for us as have to take off for rides and fanny back we don't. or we can turn them around to our side if have to.:dance3:

I haven't seen this tip before - - I am adding this to my packing list! THANKS!

Yeah I learned this the hard way. Helping DD out of test track my $300 Maui Jims slipped out of my pocket and under the car. The CM moved it forward to try to get it out and CRUNCH. They gave me a voucher for a free pair of cheap o replacements from a gift shop but yeah... made me want to die!

While I agree that the park ponchos are expensive, one thing to consider is that if the park ones get torn you can get a FREE replacement anywhere they sell them, just take it in apparently and walk out with a replacement. Since we don't go in the summer therefore don't worry about the rain much, I haven't had to decide if that's a selling point or not, but wanted to be sure folks knew about that little perk.

Of course, my cheapo self not only thinks of the price, but at 3 for $1 at the bargain store I figure we could just toss it after we're done and not have to try to fold and store it for use the next time, lol. THAT might be worth buying a case of the cheapo ones.

Does anyone have any suggestions / tips on taking a 2 year old to Disney for the first time? I'll be taking my grandson for the first time in December and I'd love some ideas on how to make it more magical for him!

we took our dd for the 1st time when she was 2 and she did so good and loved it/hence this will be her 23rd trip this nov. we bought her little disney goodies @ the local dollar store before we went to give her in the stroller to play with. especially, light up toys. he will be entertained everywhere he looks. luckily, our dd was never scared of any of the characters so we got great pics. i would suggest to be sure and go to a character meal and you can do the autographs/pics. and when someone tells you, they will not remember their trip that young, our dd's 1st character she met was daisy duck in mk by the emporium and the next yr we took her and she pointed to the same location and asked where was daisy duck??? it freaked us out. take lots of pics/video! we pulls these out all the time to reminence when she was that young in disney! too cute!
have fun! dec. is our favorite time in disney with all the decor!! santa clause is also in mk and dtd.

That's what we did, too. A handful of $1 store packets of 2, and we can toss them before we leave. They fold small enough to carry so we can even use them for the water rides, if need be.:cheer2:

One thing that we do is to book our ADRs for our TS meals for lunch instead of dinner. With young kids at the end of the day, sometimes sitting down for a meal causes a meltdown... no one wants to be at a resturant with their screaming kid!

This is a good one. I have a bunch of pictures of the kids next to the parking sign from all the parks :thumbsup2 I don't know if this is true but they say that you should know what shoes your kids have on. I hear that is the most importent part of finding a lost child. :confused3

1. The crowd calendar. I can't get enough if it. I am on touringplans.com all the time checking my dates.

2. Dinning. I know it sounds random. There are a bunch of restaurants I would have never gone too. Because of reviews I can see what people are eating.

3. Get to rope drop. You don't realize how much you can get done in the first hour before the crowds get nuts.

That's because if they're snatched and the kidnappers want to change their clothes (so they won't be as easily recognized) they usually don't bother changing their shoes. Sad, but true.

Thats crazy. I wonder how often they have to depend on this.

Just to add to this suggestion....we also said no souveniors until the last day...but we gave each girl one of those very small notebooks and a pencil (Disney of course) to carry with them. Whenever they saw something they wanted, they wrote down the item, the store (very important!) and the price. This helped them to not only remember what and where....but made them start to understand that the "I gotta have this" of the moment fades away after a few days and that item was not as important as they originally thought. My girls are TEENS now and we still employ this method....write it down and if at the end of the trip you still "gotta have" then you know it's a good choice and there have been little or no regrets when we get home on how they spent their money.

This is an OUTSTANDING suggestion! :worship:

My DD and I are going just the 2 of us for 2 weeks next late spring.

I am going to use it for her (help with maintaining her writing skills, etc.

I am also going to use it for myself! :thumbsup2 (I'm getting up there in years )

Thanks so much, ConnieB.
