At walmart i went to the machine that makes dog tags. I made one for each of my kids with there names, my cell phone number, and my husbands cell phone number.and put it on a necklace and they wore them just in case we got seperated.

That is a great idea.....i will do this next vacation to my grandaughter

I like this idea too but my younger DD wouldn't keep a necklace on...so I found a website via disboards that made silicone bracelets with anything on them. I had two bracelets made for my DD's with "Mommy's cell phone # --- --- ----". These work perfectly for us!

...here are a few.

1. rain ponchos - although we took them with us to the parks everyday we never used them. our last day it rained when we were at MK and we didn't have our ponchos because they were packed to go home. :sad1: they would have come in handy if we had brought them.

2. Gold Bond powder :yay: - at the end of our first day our thighs were chafing and our feet were showing signs of blisters. everyday after that we put some of the powder on our thighs and sprinkled it in our shoes and never had another problem.

3. garden grocer :thumbsup2 - our order was waiting when we arrived and everything was great. the snacks came in handy at the parks. a tip - don't order a lot, we had some snacks left over.

4. taking our own stroller - it was a blessing in disguise. we never would have survived if we had to carry dd between the bus stops and parks/resort. although sometimes it felt like a pain in the @%* to lug it on and off the buses we wouldn't have been happy without it.

We are taking a 6 week old in November. Any tips?

Went with my sister and her six-week old in April...the baby was the easiest kid on the trip! (The others were ages 4-11.) My sister found that the baby was no problem, but she had to remember for herself to sit and rest and to drink plenty of fluids. Also, keeping the baby out of the sun was tricky sometimes because she didn't use a stroller (used a sling)....shade might be easier with a stroller. Good luck and have fun!

Thanks! We'll have a stroller and I'm going to bring my pouch. We have talked about how we are going to have more trouble with our 2 1/2 year old than our newborn!

Water bottles with insulated covers, with a strap. Not really fun to carry, but not too bad. Filled up with ice and water before leaving room (our last visit, can't vouch for now, you can get a free cup of ice in parks), so you can fill up throughout day. Disney water doesn't taste so good, so if you can't get past the taste, get the drink mixes for single water bottles, those are samll and easy to carry. Last ones I bought, Wal-Mart under $4 each.

SUNSCREEN!!! So important, on all type of weather days.

If you carry a backpack or fannypack and have any valuables, put them in ziplock baggies for sure. Water rides and rain......

Mini first aid kit A MUST....Tylenol, a few sinus/allergy pills, chewable Pepto pills, couple of band aids, doesn't take up much room, but can come in handy and SAVE $$$$$.

Me, personally, I hate ponchos, we tried a couple of times and find them more uncomrtable than comfortable. Not sure if from living in FLorida we are use to being rained on at any time. So, I never carry those anymore, but that's us.

One of the best things we did was to take little snacks
in our backpack to the park. The would hold you over
if it wasn't time for your ADR or if the little ones got
fussy, fruit snacks did the trick.

One tip I didn't listen to and regretted it was make sure you give yourself plenty of time to break in new sneakers before your trip! I won't make that mistake again!

Funniest one I heard, but it worked - Tie a dirty nappy in a bag to the handle of your stroller - nobody will steal it (stroller never got stolen once).

Always take a break from the parks in the afternoons.

Get an annual pass - you get big discounts on rooms and you can go more - trouble is, you can go more than you really should.

PS - Sorry nappy = diaper.

Well it has taken me a few evenings to read through this lot and I have learnt so much! I am off to the world in a week and a half and have taken alot of advice form this thread. Thank you to everyone and I hope that I can come back with some great advice for everyone when I return!:goodvibes

ask at ANY refreshment stand for a cup of ICE water, great on those HOT august days and Don't waste your snack credit on H2O, eat something YUMMY instead, :rotfl2: They are very kind and always give you it!

Ziplocks for Cellphone/Camera for the wet rides and rain!! LOVED that tip! Also using gardengrocer.com for room snacks/water etc

(love this thread it defffinately needs bumped)

This is a very simple tip but I just love it -- Pack a trash bag in each suit case so if there is any dirty laundry it for the ride home it will be separated from the clean clothes- no extra wash is a BEAUTIFUL thing

I am really glad I listened to the tip about the mini M&M tubes for the quarters and pennies for the pressed penny machines, and also bringing a wet washcloth in a baggie to cool/clean off. :)

I use the M&M tube tip as well, I am stopped every time by security. I guess it looks rather odd on the x-ray machine.:surfweb:
