What Disney Tip Are you really glad you listened to?

I Know I'm Probably reposting some of this and if so let's just say I as other fellow disers 2nd that....:rotfl:

Do the ziploc bag thing......I got a whole bunch of clothes in one suitcase and it was really helpful at the airport so my clothes didn't get all wrinkled up during baggage checks...PLus I coordinated the clothes before I left so all I had to do was take in to consideration the event of the day and just toss a baggies on each persons bed and the whole outfit was on hand ready.

Go to wal-mart in the camping section and and get those disposable ponchos. The ones at Disney have Mickey on them but trust me they rip anyway and arent really a bring home souveneir and are 3x's the price..

Always carry a travel size antimicrobial wipes...We had stood in line at a ride at Dollywood one year forever and my dad who was smaller at the time was hanging on the rails that separate the lines as all hot cranky kids do when she stuck her hand in a wad of flem someone decided to cough up and spit on the rail...Not a bathroom in sight thank God for those wipes I used the whole pack and a travel bottle of the alcohol based hand santizer..I don't think a bottle of bleach would have really satisfied my mind but what if I hadn't had those...Face some people are nasty and kids are magnetic to nasty things....

Have fun tho and enjoy......

P.S. if you like gum pack it they do not sell it on Disney property.....at least they didn't but better safe than sorry if you like it just make sure it makes it to the can.....:dance3:

Hi Millie12591, about your show organizer question:

We have many different dollar stores here in upstate New York. Do you have any Dollar Tree stores in your area? :thumbsup2

Last week I found the over the door clear plastic shoe organizer, disposable ponchos in 2 packs, and pop up laundry baskets that popped back down into about a 10" by 10" square :laundy: . We aren't going back to Disneyworld until February, but I couldn't pass them up for a dollar.

I'm not sure I'll have to look and see if we do, I appreciate your answering me, I've had a heck of a time trying to find one of these organizers, the only one's I've found have been around 14 dollars! (Container Store, and one of our local grocery stores) Can you believe paying that much for one?!? LOL I glad to hear your planning ahead with getting your things way before your trip, it sure makes a difference on your budget, I know it has with mine! I'll check into the Dollar Tree, I've seen them I just don't remember where, I'll have to look for it in the phone book. Thanks again.

Body Glide comes in a stick like deodorant and is found at sporting good stores (if you are lucky) or ordered on line. The consistency is sort of waxy deodorant like too and it *Did* work on feet. I actually got the kind that had added sunscreen so it could be double duty and it was fairly long lasting.

The Monistat anti chafing gel is an interesting liquid to powder silicon based product useful anywhere you need to prevent chafing. It is readily available in drug stores. I think it is more useful where two parts rub together or for soothing heat rash like irritations. I used Body Glide on the soles of my feet to prevent blisters and help with the million miles walked.

To me they serve two different purposes and you need them both.

Of course I also took mole skin *and* the blister bandaids and used both of those too. I was of the theory, better to have the first aid kit stocked and available than to suffer a ruined vacation. (The magical pepto bismol came home still sealed)

Hope your first aid kit is unnecessary!

Thank you for all the great advice familyS and ndeelou! :flower3: Everyone here seems to have what it takes to keep Disney magic alive and make mom and dad a little more comforted while trying to get there. :upsidedow Things really can get hectic this time of the year so I appreciate all the great help I get here on disboards.com.

i think a big tip is plan plan plan !!!

it seems to have got busier year on year and the times that it is quiet at disney world is getting less and less.

in order to avoid dissapointment for dining, make sure you book as early as possible (upto 6 months in advance) especially for dining in the castle at magic kingdom

get to the parks early, go straight to what you think will be the busiest ride of the day - for example - yeti ride in animal kingdom, get a fast pass immediately, get on the ride while the line is small, then go off and do another ride, then return for your fastpass time, this method used in each park ensures you get the major rides done before its crazy busy around midday onwards....

The dollar store also carries ponchos in 2 packs. Though if you get caught at disney and need to buy a poncho I'd say buy it. If it rips, take it to any store and they will replace it free of charge. Though overstocking on the 2 for $1 is definately a better deal!

I'm looking to find a good little digital camera for about $200. I would like something that has a movie clip feature, and 7.2 mp. I was curious since a few people talked about camera's if anyone would offer up some advice about the camera's they have, you don't have to tell me what you spent or anything like that. :scared1: I just wanted to know what everyone likes  about their cameras, or dislikes  , such as what they wish they had feature wise or do have for their kind of camera and really enjoy. Even if you spent more on your camera than I'm wanting to spend I would like people's advice and opinions about their camera's anyway. My needs are something that will work for both a camera that won't have all that grain show up if I do close ups (without all the film to buy) and something that will do short little movie clips so we don't have to bring a bulky video camera around. I hate not knowing what I'm getting myself into :sad2: so that's why the request for much needed advice. Thank you. :flower3:

If you want to take videos, especially longer ones you are going to need a VERY large memory disk. There should be specifications on the package as to what kind of memory you will need and depending on the pixel size. The bigger the pricier these can be and may add significantly to the cost of the camera.

We bought and brought too many "what if" items with us to the parks each day. They were a nuisance to carry. By day 2, we left everything except ponchos and whatever would fit in a fanny pack in the room. We never used the Brita water bottles, mole skin, etc. etc. etc. However, we did use the ponchos. Great tip.

First Aid Kit
Pain medicine, motion-sickness medicine, cold medicine, anti-bacterial cream and lots of band-aids.
We kept the kit in our room and it was a relief to have all those items in case trouble arose. We did use the band-aids, cream and motion sickness medicine!

Baby Swap Program
I wish I knew about it our first WDW trip. It made our trip more fun being able to ride some of the more adventureous rides, even though we had the baby with us. Also, DS7 got to ride twice!

Photo Pass
Before reading on this site, I thought you would be forced into buying the pictures. I was nice handing them the card and being able to come home after the trip and order the prints from our own computer. We got the photos we ordered within a week with nice touches of the characters signature on them.

Water Bottles
We brought our own water into the park. They did come in handy. You do a lot of walking at the parks! Waiting in line for a bottle of water could be a half hour ordeal and pricey. Try telling three thirsty kids to wait while being in the hot sun for a drink. Before anyone comments on this. . . We spent enough money at the parks. They are not suffering from me bringing in three bottles of water.

Will a 4 GB work? ;) I already bought the camera, and hubby ordered me a memory stick for mother's day. I'm thinking I shouldn't have any problems with having enough room for my camera with something that big, don't you? Any tips will help. Thank you.:thumbsup2 BTW anyone out there buying memory sticks my hubby went online and got my 4GB for the cost of a 2GB so for certain shop around, it pays to look online (and I'm sure you know what sites I'm talking about) to find cheap buys. It totally paid off for us!:woohoo:

I have to agree that the photopass photos are great!! But they are expensive. After our trip last year, my mom found a program on the internet called "Cropper catcher" (I think) The program will allow you to crop a section on any page and save it on your computer. So, we looked up our pics, added whatever details we wanted (borders, pictures, character signatures, etc) then cropped out the pic and saved it on our computer. Then we printed them out ourselves. They may not be as clear as the ones you get from Disney (not sure, because we never ordered any) but it will, without a doubt save you a lot of money, especially if you have a bunch of pics on there like we did!!!

Depends on what compression method your camera uses to store the video, as well as video resolution and frame rate (I'm assuming standard TV resolution of 640x480 at 30 frames per second).

My Fujifilm compact does about 15 minutes per 1 GB, but it uses a very high quality (and thus high storage requirement) compression method. My friend has a Casio compact that does about 30 minutes per 1 GB but it is slightly lower quality video.

Taking a bottle of SoftSoap for the hotel. You don't have to worry with slimy Mickey soap and it's a pump. We loved it!!

1. Have a Disney drawer to keep everything I only use at Disney.
2. Get a DDE card & make ADRs.
3. Just get the Mr. Potato Head Disney pieces and buy a Mr. Potato Head at Wal-mart.

I thought that was only for Florida residents. :confused3

I love all the tips on here!

Our last trip, I packed a pair of slippers. Just plain old fuzzy slippers. They didn't take up much room in our suitcase and they were heaven to put on every time we got back to the room.

It gave my feet a much needed rest after walking for miles and miles at the parks!

That is a great idea! I'm going to add that to my list!
