What Disney Tip Are you really glad you listened to?

Where is the best place to find the newest discount codes ?

If you go to the RESORTS thread there is a section on codes and discounts.

Best tips:

1) Bring a twin size inflatable mattress (with 2 adults and 2 teens this was a life saver at the AllStars - we each rotated turns and had a night alone on a mattress!)
2) over the door organizer (really saves space especiall if you are in the AllStar Resorts
3) found a fanny pack that expands into a backpack. This was nice to have.
4) Moleskin & BodyGlide
5) bring water flavoring
6) get there at rope drop
7) Fast Passes Fast Passes Fast Passes

We also checked in a soft sided cooler as a piece of luggage. It was filled with our snacks and breakfast items. Used it in the room to store milk and drinks. On the way home it was extra space for souveniers.

Rechargable batteries were also nice to have.

Bodyglide for DH' feet and Teva Mush sandals for my feet. And a special thanks to the Diser who turned me on to Sierratradingpost, so I can fuel my addiction for Teva sandals at bargain prices!!!!:thumbsup2

YES!!! We were down last year mid oct. One day we were sweating and going to the pool to cool off and the next we were at the mall buying jeans and sweatshirts/jackets because it dropped to the low to mid 50's for a HI!!!!!! CRAZY!!!! It was really cool in the evening..I had to turn on the heat in our room. Always, ALWAYS pack for anything!!!

FINALLY finished reading the WHOLE thread! Great tips!

I didn't hear this one though...

I like to take a picture of my Ds and Dd at the same spot every time we go to WDW. I love seeing how they've grown! I normally try to do this in a spot that gives some perspective on their growth.... ie Minnie or Mickey's mail box.

Before our first visit, we were warned not to buy any new clothes, and take out things we didn't really want to wear at home. That way, we could buy lots of new clothes at the outlet mall, and chuck our old clothes before coming home!

We saw a family in the airport who were wearing really old and scruffy clothes - jeans and jumpers with holes in, trainers falling apart. Our first thought was "God love them, they're really saved hard for this trip." On the way back, the whole family was decked out in designer gear! So if you see me in ripped jeans etc, I'm just taking a leaf out of their book.

My friend took that to the extreme... When she went on her honeymoon, she took one change of clothes and bought all new!

That is such a great idea. I wish I would have thought of that. I wonder if we happen to have any in the same places (besides in front of the castle! ;))

Great tips everyone! I like the one about taking a picture of the kids in the same spot. We have a family photo sitting on a 'lava rock' outside of our room at the Poly from 2 years ago, so I think we'll take another one when we go next month since we're lucky enough to be at the Poly again!!

We love our neck coolers, too! They're tubes of fabric filled with water crystals. When you soak the neck coolers in water, they plump up like a sausage roll (but if they're made right, they really shouldn't plump up that big). Anyway, the water crystals inside have unique properties that hold the temperature of the water for a lot longer than regular water. In other words, it stays cold longer than cold water or it can stay warm longer than warm water. We put our neck coolers in the refrigerator overnight and carry them in collapsible coolers into the park. When we can't stand the heat anymore, we pull them out and--OMgoodness--the relief is amazing. During lunch we put our neck coolers back in our tote and pour ice over them and then they're ready for a second beating from the heat! HTH.

I'm contemplating making these. .(they work great for dogs too!).. if you want to make them you need medium sized water absorbing crystals.. try ebay.

I feel so dumb! I have made these before for a friend who works construction in Las Vegas, but it didn't occur to me to make them for FL. Thanks!:thumbsup2

OKay, I read this whole thread before we left. Now I get to add my two cents! I must say, the comment DH made over and over and over again was Thank God for the Dis, b/c we felt like we had so much knowledge that was small in itself at times, but added up made for a truly magical week, the best of our lives. Here we go:

1. Drink twice as much water as you think you need.
2. Be prepared with your bags, but don't overdo, (I posted what worked for us in the thread about what goes in your park bag)
3. ROPE DROP!!!!! AM EMH!!!! FAST PASS!!!!
4. Go left, most people go right. Especially on POTC, saves a ton of time!
5. If you are there for rope drop or am emh, head to tinker bell's fairy treasures first just to the left after you come out of the castle. First kids there get to wake up Tinkerbell if you ask. Only took a few minutes, one of my girls' favorite memories!
6. In Haunted Mansion, once in the stretching room, when you "fill in the space" go to the space under the picture with a parasol, you'll be the first ones in the actual ride.
7. Body glide!
8. Visit the barber shop in MK. Youngest got her first hair cut, oldest got stripes painted in her hair and pixie dust. DH even got a hair cut. Great memories, well worth time away from touring. Penny was GREAT!!!!!
9. Take a cheap stroller curtain to drape over the stroller when you park it in case it rains
10. Mark the stroller with a scarf or something, they all look alike when parked!
11. UG rocks, we did do Ridemax, but ended up just going more on info from UG and here. Have a general plan of how you want to work it!
12. Camp or swimmer's towels. You'll use them!
13. BE NICE TO CM's. They really enjoy talking to people. We got a few stickers, a few tips for fireworks, nothing over the top, but added to the experience!

Mears is sort of the default transportation service from the airport to WDW. If you have a travel agent book your trip, chances are good you will get Mears as part of the package. Usually they have vans or buses at the airport, where they wait to fill up with Disney-bound guests and then take them to their various resorts on WDW property. I used Mears in 1993 after arriving on an evening flight. I remember being packed into a large van with many other people and going to several resorts before being dropped off at POR almost two hours after leaving MCO. It wasn't painful, but then again I was already fuzzy with fatigue and didn't feel rushed to get to WDW and start my day. I knew this arrangement would not work well with my mother in 2002, so I arranged for a town car - and like I said above, it really injected a dose of magic into the vacation, as my mom and the Dkids felt special (none had ever used a livery service before).

We had a similar experience as well. It took us 3 hours to get to WDW. On the way to the airport to go home I left part of our camera on the van and we were already at the airport before we realized it was gone. The Mears desk tried to get a hold of the driver but he had his phone off so we lost our camera!

Asking for ice water at cs. The water is fine and most places will give you a tall cup with lid and lots of ice. We saved so much money this way. We also brought the flavor packs, but didn't even use them - the water has gotten much better tasking over the years. DH couldn't believe this tip - said it was GREAT!

Other tip was knowing you didn't have to use your fast pass when the return time came. We used many after the return time had already past. Many times we accumulated the FPs in the morning hours and after going back to our hotel to swim, used them one after the other at night when we returned. The kids loved the no waiting and continuous riding.

This is the best tip ever! We really didn't need all of the water I had shipped in from Costco...gave some away to newly arrived guests at POFQ. I could not believe how many people would walk up to cs and buy a $2.50 bottle of water!!

The other thing that saved us from overheating was our 02Cool misting fan. We filled it with ice every morning before we left for the parks and refilled it with the free ice water from cs locations. We sprayed our pulse points and back of our necks to stay cool.

We are going at the end of August.
Did you make yours or did you buy them?
I would like to get a few before we go!
Thanks!

I'm not the craftiest person in the world. Or the World! :lmao::lmao::lmao:

Any place to just buy neck coolers? Sound like a great idea, especially for DH!
